besides what happened at customs for dave, it was a good night overall! lots of room to dance... lafleche was good! much better than the last time i saw him:P josh got on at 5am or so, played everythign from his laptop... which was interesting to say the least... it looked like very little skill was involved in beatmatching, as the program did everything .. he just had to drag and drop the tracks... (maybe it was a bit complicated than that.. but from what i saw, josh wasnt doing much.)

he played some nice tunes. especially the tune after beautiful things.. it soudned like a new motorcycle production, except more upbeat.. it had the vocals "take me home..." and during the break down, there was this weird skip effect.. like it sounded the cd was skipping.. but i guess thats impossible with the 100% digital output:)

the only complaint i have is the constant volume changes by josh! he kept raising/lowering the volume of some tracks, it just sounded awfull on teh dance floor. Like he totally butchered the breakdown in "Fallen"... and when the bass did kick in, the volume was raised to high and distortion was heard in some of the speakers. but i guess he just needed somethign to do, as the beatmatching was already done for him:):)

night rating: 7/10
josh: 8/10
lafleche: 7/10
vibe: 9/10 <-- lots of room to dance + lots of friendly ppl.
cdn customs: 0/10 .. sluts:whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:

Review.

Personally, I had an awesome time, and I think he did too !:p
First, it was really nice to meet Josh Gabriel himself and to actually chat with him, you don't get these occasions very often.

At the beginning, I wasn't too much into Lafleche's style, but he was getting the crowd pumped.
One of the track he played with some guitar samples was :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: amazing. Damn I wish I could ID that one.

Josh Gabriel set was awesome, I loved his track selection. He started off proggy, then went off to play their remixes. It was really cool to hear the guy himself play his own tracks, and to be so into his music (with a little help :p).
He was going crazy into the booth, pumping up the sound in the red level lol, dropping and doing some effects (some of them which I didn't particularly like), but overall, I must say I really enjoyed it.

The only thing I regretted were his special effects on the chillout mix of as the rush comes. Would've made everyone much happier if he had played the track without anything :D!

Overall, great night, I had loads of fun. Nice meeting everyone.
I really hope they'll come back one day, both of them, to play to a more crowded room !:D

I didn't stay for Maus' set but she started off well.

The crowd, the vibe, the music, and the entertainment by the Dj were all there. Great night.

Later all. John

for my first event i have to say it was awesome. i got to meet josh and listen to some awesome music. ronger hooked me up as usual and i also got to meet some of the TA crew who were equally cool, offering a spot on guest list after just meeting me. shame the bouncers aren't as cool.

i had an awesome time, and loved every minute of his set, except maybe that little breakdown thing during as the rush comes bwhahaha

Lafleched did play a track called, Chick for free - 2002, sick classic rock tune, sick remix

Josh, next time, if you read this, less alcohol, more mixing :p

i think despite and regardless the fact of too much drinking
Josh played a brilliant set, and even if he was mixing on a Mac, it was more about showcasing his production, more than 50% of the stuff he played were either his production or remixes.
Respect to Josh
And hope we see both next time:)
