hahahahah. hmm the only thing that pisses me off is the fact that kids are getting into drugs and all that from such an early age. thats my only problem with it all. but at the end of the day, theyre obviously hearing all this from someone else, so if their older sick **** brothers or whatever are stupid enough to get their 15 year old bros/sis's into this mess then they're the ones who need to suffer for it. not you or i.

Heh heh Davey that kinda makes me laugh and cringe in some ways considering the age I started going out - yes influenced by older siblings and my own want of 'trying to keep up with the big kids' but that was almost 10 years ago now and nothing has or will change...

...if its not raves/clubs/pubs/events/concerts etc etc there will always be something else that we are doing and the younger generation will pick up on it and run with the ball so to speak. As I did to the generations above me - all I can do is try to gently guide the generations below me.

Disagree entirely on this point, that sounds like the "drugs r bad mmkay" approach which has been proven over and over not to work. Doesn't matter how illegal you make something, people will still do it.

I am not saying we should make them anymore illegal. I can see how the "drugs r bad mmkay" approach doesnt work. I am saying that it comes down to us as mature age "ravers" to discourage the use of drugs. Not preaching against drugs but atleast not preaching for drugs around the young people. Encourage the young people to listen to the music and try to understand that. You dont need to say "DONT DO DRUGS!!" you just need to encourage and emphasise the positives of the culture, such as music and friends. This wont stop drug use by young people but it will help them see the real positives in the culture and they wont be so focused on the negatives.

That's better :)

Good to see you understand that, because politicians/police/most people don't....

On a lighter note, one of the negatives of the "rave culture"? The stores that sell the pants for 180 bucks! I was in a local rave shop today (no names) and everything was seriously marked up. My mate bought a top for his girlfriend... 50 bucks.. and apparently that had 50% off on it!

Good luck to that :p

Hey guys,

Reading through this thread there are some really interesting posts made. I personally went out hard for a while. I had the time of my life, but one day realised all these friends I made were only with me (and I was only with them) to get somthing from each other- a good time, and that was about all. I now go out once in a blue moon, sometimes dont take anything, sometimes go really hard but I still enjoy myself either way because I dont do it often. I've lost the superficial people in my life and when I go out I take it for what it is- a night out.. So meeting and talking to 50 different people is part of the experience.. But I dont take it home with me. By doing it like I feel I wont get caught up in the 'scene' and can still enjoy it all for what it is. I have friends who used to go out hard for many years and have left because of what it was doing to them and their friends. Their friends are still there, doing the same thing every week in the same place... just loosing more teeth.
So when this discussion comes up, I tend it ignore the 'medical' information and just look at people who have been doing it waaayyy too long. That was enuff to make me wake up.

I think the scene can be more addictive then the drugs.

Moderation, like anything is the key. Easier said then done.

All I want to say is that walking out of One Perfect Day I felt quite betrayed as a non-drug taking member of the dance culture.

I was already writing a movie based on MY experiences and this just fuel's my fire to set things right.

Point proven.
