"I loathe DJ elitism. Most dance nights are just a DJ trying to impress you with his record collection of music you've never heard of. We're tired of trance clubs where you're just supposed to suck in your cheeks and look all poised. People want to rock out, to party with their friends and they all secretly want to pick someone up."

EH?! Where's this guy been going?

I guess there is some truth to what he is saying. But yeah, "to each his own." If that's even how that saying goes

Who is the person that wrote this?
Something tells me he/she doesn't really know what they're talking about when they say "trance"
Maybe they mean all of electronica in general? (and in that case, an argument could be made)

I dont think he is going to the right 'trance clubs'
because we do rock out.

Yeah, TOTA brings sooo much amazing vibe to parties. I still remember when Picotto played at Systems in 2002, and TO TAs came in full force. What a party that was! :D

So i think the person is saying it since he hasnt met anyone at those so called "TRANCE PARTYS" he calls:D

aw, let's just translate the paragraph into what is REALLY being said:

I'm jealous of DJs who have made names for themselves. I don't have fun at dance clubs since I don't know most of the music the DJ is spinning because it's not on popular radio. I don't like trance clubs because I don't identify with that scene or the music and feel out of place if I go to one. I just want to feel comfortable, party with my friends, and hopefully I'll get to talk to someone at a club other than the people who came with me.

I likely wouldn't have tons of fun at their event, but I certainly have nothing bad to say about it. Go to whatever party you'll enjoy the most! The article was fine except for that paragraph. Promoting your event by with negativity is lame...

Calling some DJs "elitist", thinking they are trying to impress us with some mystical collection of music we don't know just shows how clueless they are when they go out, given that MUCH of what many DJs spin is VERY familiar to those that actually LIKE the music. Implying (in a rather direct manner) that fronting some particular "look" is pretty ignorant too. Dare I suggest some jealousy on their part at feeling like they don't "fit in" to any particular scene? What's even sadder is that the trance scene, or the electronic music scene in general, is not about "fitting in" and looking or acting a certain way. It's EXACTLY about what they are saying people want to do: rock out and party with their friends...and who has trouble meeting people at parties? hmmm...them, perhaps? Weak.
