OK. I got a problem. I obviously have some spyware on my computer and i cant get rid of it.

I woke up this morning and Everytime i open up internet explorer the homepage is magicsearch.ws. Now i have reset all my internet settings and change my homepage back to normal but it keeps coming back. The thing that pisses me off is that its not just a home page, everytime i type in a URL like www.trancaddict.com, its automaticly opens the magic search webpage and i have to enter the website into their special little website toolbar.

I have run Lavasofts' addware 6.0 as well as Panada Titanium virus scan but nothing fixes the problem.

I really dont want to reformat but i will if i have to, Anyone have any ideas?

thanks

Download and run Spybot Search'n'Destroy. It's free and manages to catch a few "spies" that Adaware misses.

Another little tip: in Spybot there's a little function that disables changes to ie homepage settings. It's pretty handy. Also when you go to the "Immunize" section in spybot, there's a bit down the bottom that recommends you dl Spywareblaster for better ActiveX protection. This is another little gem that actually prevents your computer from ever getting certain spyware and advertising cookies in the first place... I highly recommend u get it.

Stop going to the bad pr0n sites.

You need to find good clean ones.

I deleted my other reply because I didn't read the part where you got fixed. Too many beers...
Anyhow, EMS Free Surfer II is a decent popup blocker and it's freeware. You need to block the crap which will download spyware. If you get to a point, even with the popup blockers, that you can't continue without installing something, then for heavens sakes close out your Internet Explorer and try again rather than let some program self-install. Believe me, I learned the hard way like most of us.

Happy surfin' :D

Well Kyle I'm glad you asked. I've got good and bad news for you. First the bad, I've gotten spyware a lot and its a pain in the ass. Now the good news, its easy to remove. Follow these simple steps and I'll guarantee the spyware will be removed.

Step 1: purchase a heavy duty sledge hammer at your local hardware store and get some gasoline.

Step 2: Smash your pc with it repeatedly until desired consistance is acheived.

Step 3: Dose it with plenty of gas and drop match on it and run!

good luck and let us know how it turned out for you.

Sincerely,

StrongBad

You can also cut down the amount of Spyware cookies on your computer by going to Tools in IE and then Internet Options. From there click the Privacy Tab, look in setting and click on advanced. Put a check in "Override automatic cookie handling", First-Party Cookies (Accept), Third-Party Cookies (Block) and finally put a check in "Always allow session cookies".

That should cut back on most of the spyware cookies from even getting on to your machine. :D
