Review: Shine w/ Brad Copeland & Max Graham (pg. 2)

I must admit, this was my first Shine event... and it was pretty sick! Copeland did a wonderful job opening up, and what i heard from Max Graham was great as well.
I spent most of the time in the breaks room as usual. To open, John-E threw a great old-school breaks set, which was followed amply by DJ Uncle Bobby and DJ Redturtle.
The crowd was good all night, and so were the tunes. Somethings i didn't like, however, were:
(1) Max Graham playing 15 minutes of tunes straight from a mix on a CD   .
(2) Not enough HARD breaks :whip: :whip:
(3) It was rammed, and the "Max Graham club layout" really does not help the traffic flow
(4) No TA VIP room :(.. that sucked.. plain and simple

Glad to have met DJ Eso and Ryan M, keep up the great work, both of you :P

In defense of that, if indeed it happened, I will point out that he was probably playing a segment off his new Shine CD (which the night was promoting). Which, I actually think to be a great idea (provided it was only about 15min worth).

hahahahaaa! normally i am able to review events and don't, but today i'd like to review but can't (at least, not very well anyway). the consumption of too much alcohol is to blame.

was great to see everyone again -- it's been a while since tara and i have been out. no sense tryin' to remember/list everyone -- me memory is damaged, lol!

also great to see system rammed for yet another shine event. from what i heard, both max and brad played some good music, and played it well. lookin' forward to the next time 'round!

the last track i played is called "made of metal" by rene amesz

glad you guys had fun...max and i sure did..if youre not busy tomorrow night at 7pm ill be playing a few hours at the comfort zone. theyve got a new system in there and it apparently just slams...really looking forward to it and i hope some of you can make it out.

Almost didn't make out last night and I was SOOOOOO glad I did!!!!! I have to agree with John that that was, in my opinion, the best Shine set I've heard so far..

SO many TAs and friends there last night, too many to mention, but it was GREAT to see you all... tw1tch - you have to get me in touch with your girl Madeleine - I tried to find you guys before I left around 4:30 but you were nowhere to be found!!!!!!! Would love to hook up with you two again :p

Hope TAi6 goes through next week, if not, see you all on the dance floor real soon ;) I'm off to some hot tubbin'

... and eso, you can NEVER have too much fun :p

Planned to go to this party, then almost didn't, but avikonen changed my mind, and I'm SOOOO glad I went. That was one seriously amazing set from Max!!! For a good portion there, I was running up to Max every song for an ID. Tried to get tw1tch to take some turns and ask instead, but he was too lazy. :stongue: The best thing about seeing Max live is watching him interact with crowd, & the other DJ's. He's a comedy show behind the decks, & I don't think I've ever met a DJ who personally knows the majority of the crowd there to see him, and I think that's great!!! Poor Brad Copeland.... Max was torturing him whenever he went on the decks when they were tagteaming. Pouring cold water down the back of his shirt & pants, on his decks, Boo'ing him from the crowd... and so on. When Max got back on the decks, it was only fair that we boo him back (and no, Brad never asked us to do that, Max! Just my brilliant mind at work again!). Great to hear that "Coastline' track, the new Max tune, and that new track Max signed to his label but wouldn't tell us what it was.

Good to see everyone out- mucopus, tw1tch & Madeline, fn_xtc, Max_cued, metal morphosis, shawzy, speedy2k, E-motion, bubblegirl, vinder, skeletor, mattvagrant, lipstick, charmscars, pixie chick, dj 24-7, mobius (out on a prog nite??), Kevin the lurker, time2burn, LKD, gamma, stereo princess, schryer, jennarae, crazed canuck, dallastar, avikonen & Joon, maxtuh, crazy serb, irish graham, e*master, ezekial, kevinearth, walter mindz, and I know there's more but that's enuf (we gotta go find a house!).

Happy Valentine's Day!

Til the next outing....

hey Nat .. sorry that i didn't get ur txt message in time .. i hope u got in alrite tho..

Well, you better believe it, i sat there for 15 minutes not 3 feet from max graham and watched him stick in a burned CD into his CDJ. The CDJ was playing for almost the whole time i was there, also, there was no vinyl on either of the decks for the duration.
In his Max Graham's defence however, Matt does bring up a good point. If the CD was infact the shine CD that he was here to promote, then it's my mistake.
