I am completely shocked that Jimmy Van M gets more replies than this thread. WHats wrong with you guys? Last night Aria was packed for Green Velvet and he spun an amazing set! I came back to Toronto just to see him again at system. He spun Murder was the bass and techno as well as house and prog. I'm really disappointed that you don't want to see a dj as phenomenal as this one.

I'd rather spend my v-day with my sweetie instead of some DJ ;)

No one can deny his talents in the production area, but i think when it comes to DJ'ing it's a question of perception. People just aren't sure what he's going to spin. I'm glad you had fun. Not sure if i'm ever going to agree about him being phenomenal though ( that title is reserved for the real Masters ... Tenaglia, Lawler, Digs, Sasha, PVD, Freeland etc )

Yup sure as hell he rocked and the crowd loved him. It was packed, hot and sweaty and everyone was dancing. He spun for about 3 hours and did a live version of LALA land.
I don't take what I say back. He's an awesome dj. I'd take him over Max Graham any day.

Caught the LivePA from him @ Kool Haus a while back (two summers ago?). Live PA was decent, intense, wierd (GV is a freak, lol!), even kinda fun, but definitely not one of the better ones I've heard. Crowd really wasn't into anything beyond La La Land if I can remember correctly (perhaps more a result of a pretty boring bill preceeding him, perhaps a result of the usual GuvComplex sort of enthusiasm, who knows?). Not sure if he did a DJ set that night...

Personally, I'd take Max over him any day, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

I've never heard a DJ set either, but I was there that night in Kool Haus - May 2-4 weekend of 2002, I believe?

I don't think that was a DJ set - but whatever it was, it was great for the first 2 tracks, then it all sounded the same.

well max graham spins prog and i hate prog. i should make a tshirt that says i hate prog, i've been repeating it so much today. been trying to listen to that music for years with an open mind, and well it just doesn't work for me.
green velvet spun a compbination of techno, hardhouse, funky house and vocal house. he didn't look away from his 4 tables at all, his concentration was so amazing, the entire time he was adjusting to make it perfect (unlike tiesto who just stands there and gloats). his mixing was impeccable and his voice gives me shivers.
can't believe it NO ONE went? you should have seen the crowd when he dropped murder was the bass. crazy stuff!!!:stongue:
TO guy
What are you talking about, "no one went". It was packed in there for a while. Real good times.

Whoever was there of Stretch and Hooker played an amazing set before GV too!
