I can sympathize with George in the situation that, when you win once, you will do anything and everything in your power to keep winning - its an addiction. Also, every team in the MLB had a chance for all the players they have gotten in the past 3 years (except A-Rod), but 1: they dont want to spend the money on them & 2: the Yankees are a winning organization, the winningest of any organization in any sports history, and if your a player that wants to win - this is the team you want go to. |
or if u want a really fat paycheck (unless your name is andy pettitte, in which case u don't qualify). i can appreciate the yankees wanting to win it all because the boss is willing to spend his own money for it. but does anyone else notice that only four players (out of a possible 25/40 on a roster) from the yankees championship core is still there? steinbrenner's bringing in too much overpaid and OLD (read, kevin brown) talent... listen, the reason the yankees were so good in the late 90s was cuz steinbrenner stayed out of the way. buck showalter and gene mcmichael (i think?) set the foundation for joe torre and the yankees success. steinbrenner is bringing them back to the crappy team that they once were in the late 80s/early 90s. maybe baseball needs to suspend him again....
