| george steinbrenner is really an idiot. he might as well trade for kerry wood, pedro martinez, manny ramirez, vladimir guererro, and barry bonds. he has a 'must win' now philosophy and it is so bad for baseball. the yankees will never again be the 'YANKEES' while he is still the owner. the yankees farm system went from being ranked in the top 3 about 5 years ago all the way down to 30, dead last. the yankees will now only consist of other teams superstar players. and they may be superstar players stats-wise, but character-wise, they are jerks. kenny lofton... kevin brown... gary sheffield? these arent the yankees of 5 years ago. all that's left is jeter and posada. i dont even condier bernie a part of the team any more because he will either be DHing or sitting on the bench most of the season. eh... we'll see what happens after the end of this year. if the yanks don't win again, it will be interesting to see what george does. he'll probably buy whoever are the world champions and just trade players amongst them and the yankees. really... he's such an idiot. no respect for the game of baseball |

hate to break it to you, javier vasquez is MUCH better than andy pettite. pettite was never as good as yankee fans make him out to be. only good thing about him was that he was a big game pitcher, which the yankees had a lot of.
Vasquez - 3.42, 3.91, 3.24 ERA and 208, 179, 241 SO's the past 3 years
Pettite - 3.99, 3.27, 4.02 ERA and 165, 97, 180 SO's the past 3 years
you can also look deeper and see that in 9 years, pettite's ERA is 3.94 and has 1,275 SO's. meanwhile Vasquez has 4.16 and 10,76 SO's in 6 years. the ERA is also a little misleading because his first 3 years he wasnt that great. but there's no denying how good he is now. probably my favorite pitcher in baseball. |

how is he an idiot....
#1-its his money
#2-when was the last time the yankees were not in a position to be a world championship team?
#3-other teams have tried the same thing aka the mets, but look where they were.
#4-quit bitching, since every baseball owner has just as much money, but doesnt want to win as much as george does |

I will never love another Yankee team like I loved the team of the 90's. Scotty, Paully, Tino, Derek, Bernie, etc...
I can sympathize with George in the situation that, when you win once, you will do anything and everything in your power to keep winning - its an addiction. Also, every team in the MLB had a chance for all the players they have gotten in the past 3 years (except A-Rod), but 1: they dont want to spend the money on them & 2: the Yankees are a winning organization, the winningest of any organization in any sports history, and if your a player that wants to win - this is the team you want go to. |
