Shudder
i just got turntables recently, but im only in it because i like collecting good music and playing it.

I play my stereo, and I'm kick ass at it to! I can turn the volume up and down. If I get tired of hearing one track I can put on a different one. If I want to hear a track again I can restart it. That's as close as I'll ever come to being a dj, but I love this music too.

p.s. I can ff and rew as well.
Mosaic
I'm a bedroom DJ, but I do alright... radio shows with Markus Schulz, Les Hemstock, and Misja Helsloot.

I wouldn't wanna DJ professionally like the big names because it would mess up your hearing after a while, and you wouldn't be able to hear to your tunes as well as you used to.

:)
a lot, if not most, of the 'big names' wear dj-ear plugs, which allows them to dj without damaging their ears. problem solved;)

i have to agree that being a dj nowadays is trendy...i mean in every stupid commercial you see some dumbass spinning crappy music, but i would hope that most of the people here can see through that. i'm not gonna sit here and say that i wouldn't love to be a professional dj because i would do that immediately. i just see it like this...right now music is a big part of my life...if it ever became something that i could support myself off of all the better. but i'm not doing it to be a moviestar...if that's what i wanted i'd come up with one stupid rock song that everyone would love and then have my fame...

who cares? the more djs the better, as long as they arent playing cheese or some kind of top40

That's because there's too much emphasis on DJ'ing nowadays.

if only all these "Dj's" decided to produce properly, it would be a lot better than just having a legion of people playing other people's music :(

just has to do with the fact that producing is way harder in too many levels :p

What's wrong with everyone wanting to be a DJ? If this is actually true, I think we should be thankful that the music we listen to inspires others to explore the artistic/creative side of themselves. I believe that most of us that do DJ (including me) have no real intention to 'make it'. We just want to play and enjoy the music.

Some of you might see a rash of 'poser' DJ's, I see a surge of creativity and love for EDM.

:D

So THAT'S what PvD feels like whenever he's spinning...

I doubt it, he's probably too tired and stressed from all the travelling, marketing, producing, label managment and record sifting so that by the time he's up there in front of tens of thousands he probably just wants to get it over with so he can get some sleep :p

Then IMO you don't understand the love he must have for what he does. Everytime I have seen him, he was always looking like he was having a good time. :D
