| I just tried a couple of times. Those brats can't afford anything else than Nu-R&B and other hit music. It all depends on where you live. As for me, I think I'll just stick to my band until I move to some city where people can afford music they haven't heard 100 times on the radio last week. Besides, djing is overrated. |

| I want to be a DJ because i love music, and i want to show people what my style is about. Really though, I'd much preffer to produce my own stuff. But it seems you can only be a producer when you DJ atleast fairly well ;) |

take the # of so called "dj's" in your local forum
divide that by the amount of them who actually play at respectable clubs OFTEN
and then you have your poser dj ratio :)
be interesting to see which local forum has the most losers :P |

| Being a Dj would be kick ass, but rght now it is too $$$. Lately, I have just been using my friends tables to learn some stuff, but ultimately being a DJ is a dream of mine that has been lingering in the back of my head. |

Besides, djing is overrated. | is it f*ck! when im on the decks in my room in the middle of a set its the best feeling ever. when you bring in a tune, and do and an amazing mix. better than any drug ive tried..imagine then, being a dj in front of hundreds/thousands.adrenaline rush to the max! |

LOL, ever think some of us have no desire to play in a respectable club?
I think of it as playing guitar or drums, I probably won't make it big, but I love doing it.
if thats a poser, then I guess I am poser #1 |

| I see it as a hobby, simply love the music and it's a nice way to past some time. I have played at some really small parties which werren't professional in any way, but the memories it brings makes it even better, not mentioning the people you get to know. I have no intention to become a real DJ in any way as i know it's something that's not very likely to happen. Once again, just love the music :) |

I guess I'm Poser #2 checkin in then, and I don't give a .
I have played at an underground club a friday night "residency" if you could call it that, plus i spun a bunch more times in there including new years, but a month later, the club got shut down.
I've also spun at house parties, once at a stag party in a restaurant (but i played trance!), and a couple times at the only club that even has turntables in town. they asked me back so i am gonna go again this thursday. if it works out, then great, if not, oh well. The best time i ever had was in that underground club on NYE, i came in, the club was packed, and I played from 4 till 6 or so, and the people were screaming for more, such a rush!
I spent thousands of dollars on techs, nice mixer, and records, and i didn't do it to be "cool", or to get chicks or whatever, i did it simply because i LOVE this music, and want to spread it around, I love having people come up to me in the booth with big smiles, and see them on the floor dancing with hands in the air. That's payment enough, I will never ask for money for DJing.
I'd like to get into producing as well, but it's really much more difficult (and thus much more respectable), it seems there is this unweildy interface between me and the music i would have to conquer.
but, all i can say is, if you want to DJ for money and fame, forget it. If you just want to throw down some wicked tunes on a big soundsystem, and don't mind losing thousands of dollars and hours of time then go for it! |
