My mixer is crap due to my crap X-fader. It's been a habit of mine to use the channel upfaders.
How many of you use the channel upfaders over the x-fader?
Your thoughts? |

personaly i only use the channel faders because im forced to due to there not being a curve ajust on my mixer and the curve is crap.
but i wouldnt discard using the X-fader as it is best to know how to do pretty much everything. if i had the choice i would have a curve ajust and be able to do both methods. |

hey - i used the xfader when i was just startin off but now im usin just the upfaders. IMO you get more control over your mix when you do it this way. If your into skratchin and flippin between 2 records really quickly then the xfader is for you, if not - use the channels. |

the only time I move it is to cut into and out of songs quickly.
otherwise I kill most of the eq's, or keep them at 1/4, then then raise the chan volume up to just below the main tracks volume...then move the eqs up.
thats my generic type of mixing....variations do exist. |

Don't they make mixers with a ROTARY fader?
I think that'd be nice for the electronica DJ. |

I personally use use channel upfaders. And yes, they do make rotary faders, they're supposed to be much smoother, although I've never tried them myself. |

My thoughts exactly although I know I might be late on this.
I've always felt that linear faders seem to take it out too much. I've felt that rotary faders give you better transition...as if you were layering beats over one or the other.
Yeah, but I haven't seen such a mixer and if it existed it'd probably be one of those giant studio mixers that isn't suitable for DJ-ing. |

i use both, and the eqs....it depends on the track which i use, and how much i use them. |

The Xone 92 can be equiped with them, and I know some Rane mixers can have them. I think there's rotary kits for the DJM's also. |

Unless the curve is and theres no curve adjust, it doesnt really matter (except of course if ur trying to do something specific and u need extra control). |

I used to be a xfader kind of guy, but now I'm all channell faders, it just seems I have more control. |
