i have no problem with viduka or kewell or whoever not playing for australia. BUT if we make the world cup with a team that doesnt include them, they will expect to be in the world cup team , when they should be told to go themselves for not playing the qualifiers etc:

Webbby... ur letting me down.. there were loads of the uruguayan's at the MCG, bro they were even on the news man, didn't you see then? LOL

Lets face it South America have the more developed soccer, we win most of the times the world cup... sure europe have brute force and agility to withstand the 90 minutes, but how many time did you see a Brazilian just kick the ball to the other side of the field?

NONE!

So there we go, skill is what counts, and if we aren't going to learn skills how are we to beat other teams?

So excuse Frank Farina for having the stupidity to organise a game in South America against a team we might actually be playing to qualify! Considering how well we did playing in Uruguay we obviously dont need to bother about learning how to play in South America against South Americans?

90% of the friendlies are in Europe to be honest and even then there are a lot of players who pull out with minor injuries

...

No other coach in world would get away with what farina has gotten away with. We advertise mediocrity, and farina is part of that problem. No one said playing a friendly in south america was a bad idea, but the timing is ridiculous and in the end served no positive.

It showed what kind of results we can pull without most of the European based lads.

Lol @ Ahmad Elrich

whats ridiculous about the timing, it was on a scheduled friendly day. Its pretty hard for us to attract good opposition really, and I'm sure its definitely not easy for us to get a game against South American opposition. The only time which we could get a friendly in South America which presumably wouldnt be 'ridiculous timing' would be the off season but thats when we try and get home games. We cant just schedule a friendly in South America any time we want, basically we have to take whatever we can get.

How is Farina a joke when in the last year we have beaten England in England almost beat Venezuela in Venezela, came close to beating Ireland in Ireland, beaten Jamaica in England and looked good in every game most of the time without our star players? We've also beaten France, Brazil and Mexico during his tenure.
Paulie
What i mean about timing is, its the crunch games in the european season, a friendly in south america suits no-one, but mearly a P.R exercise for Farina to show hes preparing team for qualitfications.

Yeh, lets judge farina on meaningless friendlies that have no consequences whatsoever. You get judged on the crunch games, and farina has failed. No other soccer nation in the world would have extended farinas contract without qualifying for world cup. It was why he was hired. I know if i dont do my job i get fired. Move on end of subject, and im not gonna re iterate my point.

All im saying is farina lacks accountability, and before australia hires a football director its gonna happen time after time.

you cant fire someone on a performance in 1 home and away series. I dont think anyone who knows what they are talkin about blamed the coaching for our loss in Uruguay.

The players didnt get the job done either so should they all be sacked?

Fact that we didnt make the World Cup was more to do with Oceania's qualification and the disjointed preparation forced upon us which is partly due to players playing for their clubs instead of their country and us not playing enough games against quality opposition and in tough away venues.

We can argue all day long but the bottom line is the majority of people that follow soccer in australia 365 days a year not once in 4 years all konw farina should of been long goneee.

Romp
I dont know where you get that from, I dont know a single person who has that opinion and I havent seen any criticism in the media or from experts either.

Btw Farina had no say at all in the suspension of Viduka it was made by Lowry and Soccer Australia.

Im from Central America, ppl call it South America but im not from there, they are split, just that some maps *cough OZ *cough* they say South America for even Mexico.. lol

BTW, Venezuela is in South America, and they have never got into the World Cup.
