http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&category=14987 I wanted to know from you all whether or not this was a good deal. I know its not recommended to buy used, but i want to at first. I will then upgrade. I've never touched a turntable in my life... what do you all recommend ??? I know this is asked thousands of times, but with all the new technology, etc etc... will vinyl still be around ?? or become extinct ??? Ahhh.. im so confused.. :conf: |

well ya gotta ask yourself one question:
"Why do I want to spin?"
then you will knw what kinda stuff you should buy. If your spinning for s and giggles, this is perfect for you.
but it does look like a decent starter setup...hehe even included a guide. might as well try it out. |

I would be concerned with that seller having a feedback rating of 0. I use Ebay quite a bit, and 0 feedback users usually suck, but that doesn't mean that seller does. I don't care for Numark anything, but as mentioned above you need to ask yourself how serious you are about spinning. If you think you want to get really involved, don't buy that setup, and look for a set of Technics, and buy a better mixer than that one. You'll just be upgrading anyways and end up spending more money in the long run, when you start out with mediocre gear. Also buying decks secondhand is usually no problem as Technics are bulletproof for the most part, but as for a mixer, if you can't use it beforehand, I would shell out for a new one...that way you know its in excellent shape, and you have the warranty. Good luck! |

Vinyl is so much funner then cd's. If I were you I would save a little bit more and get some 1200's, no sense getting decks then spending even more to upgrade to techs, just save. |

Isn't that quite an old style Numark deck?
The guy looks as if he is into are was into Turntablism so you don't really know what sort of punishment they might have had.
The motors on cheaper decks tend to suffer and have trouble keeping pitch after a while (Can't see exactly which Numarks they are).
In my experience Numark don't make good mixers period. Again with Turntablist use you don't know what sort of shape it's in and it's always worth testing a mixer for yourself if you are going to buy it as faders often start bleeding with use. Especially on Numark.
I am assuming that he is a Turntablist by his set up, not to mention the videos that come with it.
I think the lines for both mixer and deck have been discontinued and replaced by Numarks new style of deck.
Ultimately I wouldn't recomend you to buy it but it's only my opinion. Pretty sure you can do better.
Cheers

as far as i know, the 1500 series of numark were belt driven... that means, they suck for dj'ing :p
I wouldn't buy my tables over ebay either. It's quite alot of money you're spending on it. I'd rather give a few dollars more on new, decent, not used equipment than equiment that has been (ab)used. And you'll probable regret buying it the moment they deliver it. |

You actually bring up a good point as I did actually think that they looked more like Numarks Beltdrive decks. Yet the seller has them listed as Direct Drive... or did I just imagine that. If that's the case then keep well away as they suck ass.
Cheers

I don't know about you, but I bought my tables (tech's) on ebay, along with many other people, and they are in the condition described in the listing (near mint). Don't pull things out of your ass, there's not much fraud on ebay, and if you watch feedback ratings you have VERY little risk. |
