Important Question About Pioneer Mixers !!!!!!!!

Hey Guys,
It's my birthday :p and I thought a great present would be to buy a new mixer...so I was thinking...DJM-500, or DJM-600 by Pioneer?

DJM - 500 : has less things than DJM-600 does, but whenever I look at the live videos...(Mayday, Trance Energy, Love Parade) they all use it !!!

DJM - 600 : (matches the color of my EQuipment) has a sampler build in, and couple more FX that DJM-500 doesn't have. BUTTT, I have never been on an event where they have used it.

I really need to pick one, if not Pioneer, than what??? :conf:

Hehe, they're both great mixers... I've used 'em both.

Changed to the DJM-600 at the club... it's just like the 500, but with more effects and functions. You can also adjust the type of crossfade you want (three types).

I'll tell you that I've changed the mixer a couple of times during live sets with Tiesto, Klubbheads, Lars Holte (In Trance We Trust), John Storm (same again), Misja, Angy Dee, Louis Molinari, etc etc etc... but there's never been any mixer I've played harder on than Pioneers DJM mixers.
They've been peaked to the max at all the events, and the DJ's have said that the mixers we used are surprisingly good, considering they've played in all those superclubs which should be able to afford better equipment in their DJ booths. I trust them with that, since they've seen more mixers than the average person behind decks...

Vestax also has excellent mixers tho, but even with both these brands, you're aiming for the more expensive mixers on the market. It's nice to have money... :D

i have a 500 and have used a 600 at clubs before - the effects section on these mixers are only really useful if you are playing house. of course theres the good ol' flanger that you can hear on a lot of live mixes, but you really dont use the others much.

the 500 is perfect for what you really want to do - the only extra on the 600 that i liked was the filter or transform(i think?) which is similar to the flanger but blippy instead and the sound disappears... well i guess you have to hear it for yourself to understand, but again its really only useful for house music. it also has the option to choose the crossfader's curve, but who really cares?

the 500 in general is all you could possibly wish for. a nice rigid feel, same length and height as 1200's, excellent monitoring controls (including db meters on each chan) and of course the all important option of turning the crossfader off. this feature is great for smoother mixes or 3 turntables (which is so much fun by the way you guys should try it - borrow one of your mate's 1200s and have a go).

the 600 is overkill and i doubt you'll really find the extra features very useful. theyre pretty cool, but arent worth the extra mula.
