Ibiza Dreams, do you know how many times we continue to give advice to people that refuse to read the Newbie sticky? More than we should. Most of us are nice and are eager to lend a helping hand, but us recommending the same programs and soundcards over and over again is A.) Annoying and B.) Inefficent.
We were all beginners at some point and that's why the sticky was made. We want to help. I take offense to what you said. |

If you all like to "get off" by flaming the heck out of the latest newbie, don't let me interrupt.
BUT.
To Jamie Sharpe: Welcome, but you should have read the sticky. Go read it now. That said I recommend Buzz. www.buzzmachines.com Free and full of bugs, but I like it anyway. Especially the fact that it's free.
To the rest of you: The stickies are good, but they are not the sum of all wisdom. And their format, as just message board threads, does not make for the most convenient way to find things, because of the need to skim through huge signatures, BS posts that really shouldnt be there, and trying to find stuff despite all the dead links in some of the older posts.
What we need is a place to collect only the quality information in a user-friendly reference context. Another forum I saw (not about EDM, though) had a means for users to add lessons pages, or articles, whatever you want to call them. These were web pages accessible through the main site that contained tutorials, etc. They were categorized and searchable. I hope that something like this is part of the upcoming massive upgrade. |

I agree, this is a good idea. However, there have been numerous times on this forum where people will go ahead and answer the question and the same old, but good, advice keeps coming up. This is highly ineffecient way to spend one's time. So, if we occasionally show our frustrations, then well, this is the nature of the forum beast. I personally don't get off on flaming and I avoid it if at all possible. I like helping people.
BUT NOT WITH THE SAME ADVICE EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Maybe in the future, like you said, the newbie stickie or format can be revised. |

The reason they keep coming back, is because once someone says "look at the sticky", then another person comes along and answers their question. People usually just ignore the stickies anyways.
