Woah....I am a lil bit tipsy hehe.

Ok...the squirrel had an awesome time. It was really nice to meet everyone I did meet tonight, esp. Josh and Dave, you guys were really cool as hell and you guys played a great set.

The opener was actually pretty good (and oddly enough I heard like 95% of his set cause I got there at like 10:15 :wtf:) ...but it was all housey stuff so it was a change.

I will be honest...I had never heard anything James Holden beofre and all I can say was I was blown the away. The guy's set was stellar and he was a really nice guy too (even though he kind alooks like a sheepdog with that haircut lol). I think Holden's set alone was worth the price I paid to get in.....

When G&D came opn I thought there was no way they could top Holden with his awesome hard set as I was expecting either a cheesefest or a housefest (Josh and Dave "decided" at the meetup that they were going to play mostly house tonight lol) but it was an amazing hard set.

I can only ID two songs from the whole night pretty much lol...Dave Dresden opened up with the new mix of Beautiful things (I think it may have been a house remix?) then he went into Kellis- Milkshake (no idea which mix). After that I know I heard Beautiful Things again (someone said it was Dave's remix of it...I had never heard before) and a new(?) mix of ATRC that Josh played as an encore.

Overall I had a great time, and I have the honor of being the owner of the first shot glass Dave Dresden has ever autographed (I got it free somehow from a waitress at some point....) and got Josh to sign it too.

So ya....good times were had. It weas not the cheesefest I went in expecting (and would probablyhave enjoyed anyway) and I had an awesome time.

Time for sleep....

Yes to each his/her own. I can believe Josh and Dave were nice dudes, but I am just not feeling their vibe, I guess. That set was all over the place IMO, and not in a good way. Agreed on the opener though. Bit a few track selections from Felix da Housecat, but much better than most Vision/Spundae opening DJs!

Hmm....my post did seem to be glowing a little more than it should have. I guess it was because I drank a little more than I planned.

I had a good time, that is all that matters hehe.

For those of you who want an informed review.....don't listen to me....I take everything I hear one song at a time and I either like it, or I don't.

Blah me tired.....

I'm finally awake - got home around 4:30 and promptly fell asleep.

I had heard terrific things about Holden and he did not disappoint! His set was killer and Dave even said to me "how the hell are we going to top this?!" I can't believe this guy is 22 - he looks like he's about 12, but his set was great. One of my friends - who NEVER dances - was actually dancing behind the dj booth, so you know the dj had to be uning believable!

G&D's set was also good IMO - harder than the ones that I've heard online with no trainwrecks etc. They had the dance floor moving until the end and I was pleasantly surprised with the set - I was just soooo tired that I ducked out around 4:15 or so.

Thanks to everyone that showed up at the meet-up - Dave and Josh were extremely nice. The small crowd made it easy to really TALK to them - looking forward to seeing them at WMC.

Now - time to go outside to enjoy this beautiful weather. Ciao.

Sorry I couldn't make it to the meetup... it was end of the month @ work and I never get out until late.

James Holden rocked the house. I got a chance to sit down and chat with him after his set. I asked him how life was on the road and he said: "It's only been a day so far and I terribly miss my girlfriend and my hamster. I have a feeling that after this week I'm going to be really depressed. If I was single, this would be the best ing job in the world but I've been dating my girlfriend for 6 years."

He also told me that he's been at it for 10 years but the first 9 years have been (his productions) in his own opinion. He's partial to the PC platform and he uses Cubase with various plugins. He only has one piece of hardware but he doesn't use it. Very nice guy, down to earth and I have nothing but respect for the man. After hearing so many different ages (22, 30, etc) I asked him how old he really is and he said 24.

Nice to finally meet Mr. Squirrel and good to see Tom and Myra out.

Don't forget peeps, April 3rd w/ George Acosta. I will actually be closing the night out this time so my set will be a bit harder than if I were to open. Hope you can make it out!

Well I had an awesome time too. Holden was amazing. I really hope he comes back soon to play a longer set perhaps. He played some awesome tunes like Nathan Fake-Outhouse, Petter-All Together:eyes: , Holden-THe Wheel, and many other goodies. Hes really a nice guy too, chatting with fans and signing stuff and hanging around the booth for G&D's set.

I thought G&D did good but would've liked to hear some songs other than their own productions/remixes thrown in there. But overall I enjoyed most of it. It was nice to hear their remix of Into the Night as well. Dave said it was one of their favorite remixes that theyve done.

I took a few pics and a good amount of vids and will try to get them up. MrS has volunteered to host them so we'll let ya know when they're up. Or I'll put them in my shared folder on Oldo's hub if youre into that;) .

Well, I gotta say, I wish I could've watched the shows a little bit more. I saw a lot of Holden, which I was digging, but I missed most of G&D. I was technically "working" last night, so by the time we wrapped, I was so goddamn exhausted from running around from the main room at vision to the floor in excalibur taping the "iCandy Naughtigras" even that I was so tired I couldn't even dance. The music was good, I just wish I could've enjoyed it more. Last time I ever agree to work on a night that big names are coming.

I'm definately going to come to the next meetup though. I live 6 blocks from Vision, so it would be a dumb idea for me not too. Hopefully I could meet some of you local TA's! I need too meet some non-college people in this city, it's tiring.

Damn that was a great night. I drove up from Cincinnati with eight friends and it was definately worth the trip. It was real great that Josh and Dave showed up for the meetup, along with Dyer, CTprincess, and Mr. Squirrel. I liked that it was so small, me and my friend Kevin got to speak to them for over a half hour about random stuff. Josh seemed to take some offence to a comment I made to him about his mixing skills. Sorry, I was not trying to criticize of offend; think he took it the wrong way. They were really cool guys. Talked to Holden for a few minutes; he was real nice, kinda shy, and not to attractive for a guy.

I enjoyed meeting the Chicago TA's, I also met Myra and DJ2kta at the club, loved Myra's shirt. Danced a lot, drank a lot, and actually rolled for the 1st time in a while (not my usual thing, but hey why not, one night). The atmosphere was excellent, not too crowded and both Holden and G&D's sets were excellent. Does anyone know the name of the last track played during the encore? It was real chill. Did not care for the guy that came on before Holden, for my tastes he played blan, repetitive, dull tracks. Nonetheless, he was an excellent dj and seemed to love what he does.

Mr. Squirrel, I love your shirt it cracked my up. CTprincess, thanks for seting up that meetup and it was nice to meet you.

overall kick ass time, timed as hell now.

peace,
Matt

haha, yeah that was pretty cool how we met totally by chance over by the bathrooms. :toothless (for those who didn't see me, my shirt was a white tank top w/ the G&D logo. i'll have pics uploaded later)

i pretty much agree with everyone else - Holden's set was just AWESOME, G&D were good but nothing special. except what was with the music cutting out while Holden was spinning? either way, Holden had me dancing the entire time he was spinning.

don't know how many of you signed up for the guestlist on Vision's website, but the girl working outside sorta gave us an issue about it saying Vision hasn't had that list on Saturday nights for 2 years. so i'm just like "seriously???" and she let us in for $10 regardless. i dunno, it was a lil shady but it still worked out.

anyway not much else to say about it besides Holden is amazing. it was nice seeing Seneca and Rubin also, as always! i took some pics which i'll upload to my Fotki account later.

now i'm just looking forward to Sasha!!!

EDIT // here's a pic of me w/ my G&D tank top
