TRANCE TRIBE - The Event - what do you want? (pg. 4)

Yes true being popular doesn't equate to talent.

But you can't really be saying that Bexta has no talent. I remember when she played the set before Fat Boy Slim at the UNSW Roundhouse a couple of years back. She worked the crowd into an utter frenzy, and when Fatboy Slim played it sounded terrible because he just wasn't working it like she was. Also wasn't she voted the number 1 DJ last year on ITM? She wouldn't have got there if she had no talent.

Also i have heard Bragi rave about her skills when she plays live (I haven't heard her play live) and if he said she had skills i believe him.

Just because she doesn't play the music you like doesn't mean she has little mixing skills.

and I think i read a slur against Bassaholix. I sincerely hope that was a joke because if you know him in real life you'll know he is an utter champ and one of the nicest guys.

I have never really noticed their mixing skills. Most of the time I don't notice mixing skills, unless it is amazingly good.. such as Tiesto in Melbourne... his mixing blew me away, even more than Armin.

Bad skills aside, I'm worried that by having two rooms may weaken the crowd a little in the main room. We have JJ in the main room, which would bring some of the JJ fans.

I really think JJ is doing big things for OUR trance scene, because many of his Hard Trance groupies are following his change in style,a nd moving to the uplifting sound.

Heck, I noticed this at armin, that much of the normal subs crowd was really digging t he uplifting stuff!

JJ is really keen on setting up his own uplifting night :) Maybe you guys could work with him as this would bring a lot of experience in the industry.

Look forward to hearing your feedback.

To be honest that line up of local talent is pathetic. Sample Gee what can i say LOL. Wouldnt pay 20 bucks to see those guys who seem to play just whatever tiesto was spinning a month ago. If youre gonan limit the party to just trance DJ's, then youre only gonna pull in the trance crowd and judging from attendance of other so called "trance" parties its nothing to look forward too.

On a lighter note, I would love to see a Regular type event as polished as the Underage Utopia (Sydney) but with more mature music eg House or non cheesy Trance.

I remember that event and I remember that Bexta did DJ well. I was however VEY impressed with Fat Boy and have been every 3 times I have seen him.

Save Fatboy!

a few ppl have mentioned matt darey again. his reputation is getting out again, with the re-release of his older stuff. Anyone know who's bringing him out in april? maybe worth a call to his agents?
the two room format is more expenses for everyone, when you can only be in one room at a time. Maybe a small chillout area, rather than a second dancing area.

Josh: I never slurred Bassaholix!! Im not sure where that comments come from.....:conf:

Maybe im the only one that does care about mixing, but personally if the mixings i cant enjoy the night no matter how good the tracks are....

As for BeXta, i agree 3 years ago she was good - i enjoyed what she played back then but has anyone heard her recently??? True i havent heard her for about 6 months now but when i was hearing her regularly her mixing generally left a hell of a lot to be desired!! Oh and she only plays live sets very rarely, so it would be (i suspect) very expensive to get her to play one!!

But as i said im just putting down ideas, u can feel free to disagree...

Hey I wasn't talking about you :)

escee i believe

I would have to agree that Nik Fish, Bexta etc have not impressed me at all in the last 12 months. Besides the fact they play too hard for my liking, they aren't very friendly and tend to not really put anything into what they are playing.

mixing is a big part for me, i have heard some shocking mixing in my time and it has put me right off. Sucks when you pay big money for an international and they cant mix.
