American Audio TTD-2400 or Gemini XL-500II?
Since I cannot afford Techs, and BADLY need new decks, I'm wonderin which to get. I'm looking at both of these, both are around $150. My max price is $200. Can anyone give me tips on whihc is better, or perhaps a whole 'nother deck?
THANKS:D
*EDIT:
I'm also looking at the Stanton STR8, but I'm skeptical about the straight tonearm, give me advice! |

Are you lookin to buy 2 decks at $200 each or one at $200 by itself or 2 @ $100 each?
If it is the 2@ $200 then the "save up for techs" option is one to heed. I paid $500 for the pair (taxes and all) for my mk2s at a pawn shop. I was originally planning on buying one or possibly 2 TTD-2400s just to get a turntable (cause i get ADJ stuff rat cheap through work cause I work at an ADJ rep :toothless) But I saw the techs at the pawn shop and decided it was a deal I could not pass up....even if I get bored with them I can sell them for as much as I paid for em on EBay.
The big problem I see wth ADJ stuff is that there really is very little information about the actual specifications and the setupinstructions etc.
Hope that is helpful.

200 a piece, i just really cant afford techs, and i dont want to buy used. what i figure is that if i keep whatever i get in good shape i should be able to get a decent amount back whenever i decide to get techs, probably in a year or so. thats why i was looking at American Audios, Stantons, and Gemenis. |

I would look at the Gemini PT-2100 turntables. I have Technics, but a friend of mine has the PT-2100s and they work really well. Those are the tables that I would get if I couldn't get Techs.
Audiolines has a deal on those particular tables now at $180 each.
Anyway, thats my suggestion. I hope it's of more help than all of the "get Technics even though you said you couldn't" suggestions. |
