After much deliberation, a soul-tearing uncertainty, a torture-like decision had been made.
First, I want to thank everyone who participated in this contest and provided your insightful comments and remarks - it's been great deal of fun and you most definitely helped me get by the week of torturous wait. I also had an opportunity to use my PM feature for the first time in many months. Who knew there were so many cheeky monkeys on this forum? :D (psst: hint - you can a lot of attention if you bribe people) ;)
Ok, so all jokes aside, let's get to the fun part.
I must say - I had quite a few close calls in the first few days. I actually hoped that the hints I provided were not tooo easy - and I actually wanted to make you guys work for it.
So, after certain someone tried to catch a fish in a barrel by throwing a hand granade in it, I had to take some preventive measures to make it fair for everyone. This was the part that kind of left me dubious - "Hm... do I give this guy the victory or do I clarify the rules". So, with that doubt, I clarified the rules and had to disqualify that response. Then, I had some partial and incomplete guesses. Hell, I even posted a picture depicting a part of the synth but that didn't help either.
Then, I told people to look and later, specified where. So, it seems like someone had done some homework and is pretty certain about the guess.
Well, the right answer is:
And the winner is:
Ok, before we get to the winner :D let me list runners-up and (sad) reasons why they did not win:
The first (and very close call) was made by: "hey cheggy"
Reason why he didn't win: Incomplete Answer. As the rules stated, the answer had to be complete
The second, and a rather "brute force" approach :D was made by: "rb2k1"
Reason why he didn't win: Unsportsmen like conduct. ;) If he only guessed by posting each one separately! :D
As far as the hints went - I gave so many of them, I was practically giving it away. Anyone with a bit of interest, could have probably found this hint interesting:
Ah, these guys do: (take a look on a left side):
And if you searched "right under your nose", you would have found this bit of info:

And the winner of this contest is a lad with photographic memory....

CONGRATULATIONS, SIROCCO, YOU ARE THE WINNER OF M-AUDIO SONICA! YAAAAAAAAAAAI! :haha: :haha: HOOOOORAAAAAAAAY!!!
You have until Friday, 3PM EST to contact me (via PM) otherwise, the runner's up will have a chance to take your prize away.
Big thanks to all that participated and TranceAddict.com for making it possible to have this thread in an open forum, without being deleted. To all the mods who kept this thread proper, by not letting it turn into "post padding" thread - god knows, it would be awfull!
Well, anyway - it's been fun - now, look out for more posts pertaining the actual Synth in Production studio. Detailed review to follow soon!

You'll get my feedback about Andromeda in the "Production Studio" section of the forum. However, the public is probably curious how did you guess the right answer? Let's hear your success story:

BTW, Interesting bit of info that will be used to dispell any disputes about "completeness" of the answer:

What's In A Name?
There's been a lot of speculation regarding the Andromeda's name. Is it the A6, or is it the Andromeda? Here's the whole, sad tale...
Recent Alesis keyboard synths have borne a number that refers to the number of keys on the keyboard. Those with 61 keys have a 6 in the name, those with 76 keys have a 7, and those with 88 keys have an 8. It was logical, therefore, that the Andromeda would start life as a 'Something 6'. The engineers liked the idea of using the letter 'A' for analogue, so they ended up calling it the A6.
However, the then-marketing manager of Alesis' synth division (who has since departed) apparently thought that A6 was too impersonal. He also worried that the '6' might mislead players brought up on the Prophet 5 (five voices), the Jupiter 8 (eight voices) and so on. Apparently, he then spent two years trying to think of names. The first of these was 'Velociraptor'. No one liked that... Likewise 'Vogue' (suggested by an Alesis salesman because it rhymes with Moog). Better suggestions included 'Monolith' (with its Arthur C Clarke connotations), and 'Prologue' (Professional Analogue). However, eventually 'Andromeda' (from The Andromeda Strain, a '70s sci-fi movie) struck the right chord, apparently. Female, astronomical, and a disease, all rolled into one.
An attempt was then made to sell this name to the rest of Alesis, but some of the engineers resisted, because they thought that the similarity between the name of the ASIC chips at the heart of the synth and the sound of 'A6' was really funny. Anyway, the President of Alesis was not prepared to adopt either name wholeheartedly, so — citing the Roland JP8/Jupiter 8 as an example, they settled for a compromise.
And that's why it's called the Alesis A6 Andromeda.
