Here is the latest production I have completed.
I would say that its a Techy Uplifting Trance, with a pumping bubbling bassline and nice touches of acid.
This is very different sounding to any other productions I have done, and very different from the my last production, Koh Pangang Click here to go to reviews it got
I am quite happy with the way this turned out, so any comments would be appreciated, constructive only though please.

Dirty bass - I like, but it's not as good as it could be.
I agree with the distortion comment, sounds as the lead could be taken back a bit. Percussive elements are completely overshadowed by the leading synth, and they sound as if they're lacking some upper frequencies...or they're distorted.
From 7:22 up to 7:49 the percs are nearly impossible to hear.
Track could use some more low-end as well. |

Cheers for the feedback Massive.
What is it you don't like about the kick? Is it the rhythm, or the sample? i.e. too hollow sounding, too much sub bass, not enuf etc.
Doesn't sound that distorted on my system, except the main hook (chorus). Troubled getting the lead to stick out so doubled it up. Kind of gets in the way of everything else.
Only started this today anyway, so got loads of time too fine tune it. Just wanted to see what the TAs thought first of all, too see if it was worth it.
Any more comments? |

Cheers for the comments tranc3, you must have posted as I was posting a reply to massive.
I agree on the lead, rushed it. Will put it back a bit tommorow, in my next production session.
There should be enuf high-end of the percussive elements, its probably just cos of me layering. Need to tweak the eq.
Not sure how I could stick some low-end in without distorting it more.Got a lot of layers in the track so finding the EQ quite difficly.
Any ideas? |

Try not making the lead quite so spread-out, frequency-wise |

I've made some changes, got rid of most of the distortion and applied some xtra EQ.

Nice. I like the choir sounding pad in the intro, sounds good. The kick in the breakdown is really hard to hear though, not sure if that was intentionally.
Sounds kinda distorted after the first breakdwon. Was fine before that but not afterwards. I also thought that the lead was too loud but that might be because I'm listening on crappy computer speakers.
Melody is pretty good, keeps the track going nicely. Nice acidy sounds as well.
Wouldn't really call this track "techy" though. Just seems like normal hardish trance to me. |

I really like the track, melo sounds cool.
But perhaps you should try another, larger hall as those "small-room-reverb" you use now for the mainmelo synth, so this synth would better fit to the choir pads. Furthermore I think, the choir is worth coming lil bit more foreground.
Anyway, cool track. :) |
