No I really was impressed on NYE. I was sober there for about 45 minutes (at this time I was taking advantage of the free drinks) LOL:crazy:   |

nice way to start an evening---then we walked to the end of the long ass line |

cox was amazing but it was impossible to appreciate the music on such a pathetic system with such a disgusting crowd of drunk ass idiots. i paid 25 on the list to get in and i left before 3am. I escaped to Arc where there was room to dance and normal people. avalon, it's a total disgrace. So sad that Carl Cox had to be spinning there and not crobar or somewhere that is worthy of his skills.
And yeah, the crowd was into it. But they were also drunk fools. I can't tell you how many times people asked me who was spinning. Bleh. I am officially jaded. |

well, i can forgive ppl asking who was spinning at around 1:30-1:45 cuz if you were near the front, you cant see the dj booth and at one point christian turned up the bass which fooled me that cox was on. . . .
then when cox got on, the volume was turned up even louder . . . . hehe
and of course, normally id go walking around to see for myself who was spinning but sheeesh, that place was sooo packed and so much drama to get anywhere, i didnt even wanna leave my spot |

i discovered that cox is not for me in spite
of a technical and rithmic prowess a lack of
melody made me unfulfilled
i left around 2:30 the endless drumming was
just overwhealming resembling the guys who
play the drums on the subway
def progressive or trance are my fav's ;) |

Don't be jaded!!! Next time we'll make reservations for a table on the stage, so we won't have to deal with the crowds or the varying cover charges :toocool: |

one of the best sets i have heard in a long time. The crowd was disgusting, and Christian Smith continues to impress me more and more each time I see him, and I honestly think that he is one of the most under rated djs around.
I need a track ID if anyone can. Its a song that has a male saying "It Feels Like Somethings Heating up, Can I leave With you." Its NOT Justin TImberlakes voice, but its the sample from his song Senorita. Carl played it in Miami at Crobar, and the other night at Avalon NYC. Any help appreciated. |

We apologize for this. The listing on TA was incorrect (blame this on Miami and the listing never getting adjusted). The night was always supposed to be $25 reduced before 12am. As advance tickets on www.nextticketing.com were also $25. Sorry for the miscommunication but Avalon never intended to promote false advertising.
The door price never exceeded $35 all night. This is a NYC bargain for Carl Cox, especially when you have Deep Dish or Sasha & Digweed for $50/$60.
Please don't be so indignant if they do end up raising prices for future large scale events. The demand is obviously there and if you're running a business, how else can you manage the crowd numbers...
Although of course everybody will bitch - as this is the nature of NYC clubbing.
All in all it was a great night. Carl Cox was in great spirits and Christian Smith delivered excellent sets both in the beginning at the end of the night.
