For those at university.
Currently at Newcastle uni, the lecturers having carried out a 2 day no teaching strike, are currently continuing a no-marking or setting of exam questions strike.
Although not all university staff support the action and thus, apparently, work will eventually be marked by those who are not striking.
Is this happening at other uni's in the country.
At the moment it basically means im not going to graduate when im supposed to.
And surprise surprise its all the government's fault for not raising the pay over the forthcoming years in line the national average wage increases.

What the hell are the biatches whining for now?? They get paid to teach, not fanny about and complain that they're overworked and underpaid. Underpaid my arse, us students have to live on like £4000 a year, and we aint complaining. They wanna sort it out, before I start laying the smackdowns...

| i've heard about this from a few people, but i don't think it affects the majority of lecturers at my uni. it would be pretty wank if you had to wait til september to graduate :whip: |

Im at Northumbria too, my Dept hasnt been affected tho...and all seems to be normal..
Streakfury - Most lecturers get paid to do research actually, not teach. Research is where the real money is for universities...! |

very very few universities are affected unfortunately mine is and my lectureres wont even mark my dissertation. im at university college london (ucl) which is were the strike action originated. my department is a bunch of tefty twats and are stuck firm in the anti-marking lark so whether i graduate or not is one question id like to know the answer to.
they have a point but are going about it the wrong way.for a example a lecturer with PhD may only earn 18,000 a year in London, that is less than a temp. These are very clever, able peeps who deserve better |

the relevant BBC article is:

lecturers get paid very little for research unless they are in a high demand research field such as medical science or anything else that a company could make profuit out of |
