i just got a new pair of Sony MDR V6

i heard something about breaking in new headphones, like playing music loud, does this actually help? how?
trancinchink
i know it worked for my sennheiser hd-280's. when i first got them they soudned kinda crappy and i was sorta pissed. but then i used them for a couple more weeks with every couple days or so blasting the music through it. now they sound awesome.

playing music loud with brand new headphones is the stupidest thing you could do.

you're supposed to play some softer music at lower levels .... and you can try and make it progressively harder ....

Don't forget the objective is to break in ... not break on first use. So be gentle with them at first.

Whenever I've had to do this with speakers I'll start with classical music play that for a LARGE number of hours ( like days almost ) and progressively make it harder

You will start to hear a noticable difference at about 100 hours of listening. They will sound real good. The differnce between my HD280's now compared to when i bought them is huge.

Don't blast music at full blast obviously. Set the volume at a reasonlably loud level.

yeah thats right.. don't blast it straight away, start it slow, then get it louder n louder
trancinchink
i didn't mean blast at full volume...

haunted, what do you think of those headphones so far? are you glad that you upgraded?
vhx1
I heard they are very good sound quality for the relatively cheap price. What did you upgrade from Haunted?

anything with bass rifts really warm up the drivers. i'm not sure what classical music would really do but keep the magnets moving in tiny sequences... but bass rifts mate... anything like that.

i upgraded from sony mdr 7505

yes i like them alot, very comfortable and alot clearer

burn them in with some bass heavy music.
and turn the volume up little by litte. just use some books between the phones and let them play in by themself.

you're gonna hear dif. i'll promise!
i wasn't that satisfied with my headphones at first, but after playing them in they suddenly sounded like a dream. now they are perfect! ;)
