$100 daily limit on tag
i would never put more then 100 on it...... not that i even use it.

I have mine recharge when $20 remains and top it up with $80. Never more than a bill on it at a time.

aaah well at least with debit you are somewhat protected from theft. I suspect that the double swiping problem would be easier with dexit too since they dont even need to worry about pinhole cameras and pin numbers. If Dexit can work out some sort of insurance coverage then maybe id consider it.

The vendor never touches the Dexit card. The owner/user places it against the reader.

Fast food is a volume business. The more people you get through the door, in the less time - the more money you make.

Of course Tim's is doing more business.

From 11:30 to 13:30 Scotia Plaza has ~5,000 people come through - if someone leaves your line to go to another because people are pissing around with debit machines and cant transact fast enough - that's lost money. Same is said if employees are pissing around talking shop. Lunch time = crunch time.

I think in a low volume, low competition (not many other options) environment - Dexit probably isn't a viable option.

In a high volume, multiple-option environment - it's crucial to be able to not only produce the foodstuffs quickly - but also transact and move customers quickly - Dexit is perfect for this environment.

Oh i know that people have no patience. In my business we have to cater to that. However it baffles me how impatient people really are. Even when im in a real hurry i never get retarded about it. If i truely have no time to eat I dont eat and if i were ever in a position where i NEVER had time to eat i think id be rethinking my daily activities.

Im sure some people truely are in a hurry with high stakes jobs and meetings but i suspect that most simply live their whole lives on fast forward. Youd be surprised how many people act as if they are late for a meeting on a Sunday afternoon for instance.

now where this technology would really come in handy is in those bloody European washrooms (WC'z) when u run outta change and the old cleaning lady is waiting for you to drop some coins.. :whip:

aaah ok... thats a start. And I suppose if you lose it its like losing money. However i rarely carry $100 cash around for that reason. Make it more viable to recharge smaller denominations and we'll talk :)

no because you said if someone uses it up, too bad. And of course someone would.

User specifies recharge amount ($20, $40, $60, $80, $100) and at what minimum dollar amount the recharge occurs. However the recharge has the $1.50 fee - so to make it have the least amount of cost, it makes sense to use the maximum recharge amount (or as high as you're comfortable).

I have my tag on my keyring with my haus and office key on it. How often does one loose their haus key or office key? Fortunately I don't very often - so the risk of loosing it / concern of loosing it is very low.

ok so it sounds good. But perhaps if you made the recharge fee for $20 50 cents and $1.50 for $100 it would work a bit better :)

A pro-rated recharge fee makes sense. Debit doesn't have such a thing however, nor does a merchant account (merchant fees varying based on transaction value).

However, I suspect that they set it to be cheaper the more one recharges is a part of the business model in that they have some sort of revolving liquid investment with the "charged" cash that increases their profitability and cash-flow (thus Dexit incenting the user to charge as much as they can/are comfortable with).
