they were giving away free $5 if u signed up at Ryerson .. you can also get the deal online thru their site ..
www.dexit.com
the company i work for (TD) is also supporting the product..
isn't this the first public application of "RFID" technology in TO or something .. ?

Didn't bother getting one. I wouldn't pay to recharge the damn thing either. If you're too lazy to press 7 buttons and wait 5 seconds, that's just sad. |

Honestly its a waste of money and time, if you dont have time to punch in a number, just use credit cards. |

Silly people - bashing it before you look at it completely to realize it's -real- value.
The real value of Dexit is the "special offers" that the merchants provide.
Across from my work is a place called "pumpernickles". If you pay with Dexit you can get a montreal smoke meat sandwitch with soup of your choice for $5.
Cost without Dexit, $4.50 for the sandwitch, $2.50 for the soup.
Every merchant has a special Dexit offer. McDonalds near my work gives you "buy 1 get 1 free" on sandwitches, etc.
So, I throw $100 on my keyfob - which costs me $1.50. I have lunch ONCE at pumpernickles and I'm already in the money.
I figure I probably save $1 to $2 per day on lunches with Dexit. 20 lunches per month - $40 savings / month, all for a $1.50 cost.
I'll gladly use the thing to save $500 / year on my lunches. And being right downtown I have large number of options available for feeding. |

Back in my university years I remember seeing something like this in Kingston - that most of the QueensU students used as it tied into their meal plans or something. |
