Hey guys,

I agree with you Mike as far as trance being able to take you places you couldve never even imagined. I know most of us listeners have gotten goosebumps when experiencing a good trance song . I know I have. You might even be able to compare it to an orgasm. ;) A good trance song is just like the producers heart and emotions packed into sounds made from machines. I think it is strange how others can feel that type of energy and emotion when they listen. And I love it. That sounds like something an f-ing space cadet would say, but I swear its true. Other people just dont get that feeling I guess. But dont kid yourselves. Making music, no matter what form it is, is hard - even with guitars and drums. Compare the music of Coldplay with New Found Glory. IMO Coldplay packs a lot more emotion into their tracks then the latter (which I am not a fan of). Also, simpe music can be heavenly as well; I could tell you many stories of the huge Beatles singalongs Ive been in at huge parties (which is so goddamn amazing - one of those things that you MUST experience in life). But the emotion involded with trance is much more personl, it seems. And in most cases its more complicated; you really have to open yourself up to learn how to FEEL music when you listen to trance rather than just haphazardly listen to the "normal" music. Also, if you learn to do this you might find yourself feeling the same way about other genres of music. (Im saying "you", but I am just speaking from personal experience. So please dont take it like Im trying to tell you to do this or that I am making a blanket statement). Trance cannot be background music like other music can. Trance demands to be in the forefront. Thats why, I believe, that trance sounds so amazing the louder you play it. Trance cannot be listened to in a 30 second clip. There is too much to it. The emotion packed within each song so specifically that if you jump into the song at any moment other than the beginning, it will not feel the same as it would from the start. If I skipped right to the melody of Darren Tate's "Let the Light Shine In" I wouldnt enjoy it as much. Buildup expectations and let the audience have it, all while introducing them to a part of yourself and taking them somewhere you want to take them (be it wonderful and peaceful or just angry and sorrowful). That is what Trance is to me.

And in terms of your song, the wonderful melody, the one in the beginning of your clip, sound like a trance melody from ancient Egypt. That what the melody reminds me of. Thats what I love because no other song in any type of genre has made me think of that. Its like some futuristic Egypt. ...its a compliment.;)
And yes, as kewlness pointed out, the piano is totally magical!! But I would have to disagree with kewlness about the kick. I believe that it is great the way it is. Not every kick has to be the same. I like it with little high end sound. I dont believe youre meant to hear the kick; rather, youre supposed to FEEL it, and pay attention with the rest of the song, as Im sure you would only feel a deep pulse in a club or on a sick system. Was this your motivation for making the kick in this way?
Anyway, great job once again. Thanks so much for the full song. Ill be showing this around.
I didnt mean for this to be so long, but it was great getting a grasp on my thoughts about what trance is to me and why i love it . cuz i was never able to do that before.
Thanks for bearing with me.;)
Take care Mike and everyone else.

duude! there isnt one thing that you just said that i disagree with! and the statement about being able to feel the kick, spot on!! The way i make my kicks, is i make sure there is a snap, or crak at the begining, so that it can definately be heard and accknowledged, but i think the more important thing is the thick bass sound following it, which i try to make last an 1/8 of a bar, to give perfect bounce and structure to the piece. Ive never heard it on a loud system but yes yes yes your soooo right, you have to FEEL the kick, thats another reason y it has to be loud. I think trance has to be the only thing u hear, the only thing on your mind and the only thing that matters at the time, in order for it to have its full impact. And the full impact is mind blowing.

Thanks for compliments on the track :) i will be perfecting it over the next week or so :D

djHollen

Mike_Foyle
lol wicked. you think i should send it out to some labels?
djrouz
listening to your tune again right now. this is great man - i only listened to the sample last time but now i'm listening to the whole song. it has so many elements and they fit together so well. good job!

mind if i ask what you used to produce it? and since it is the "original mix" if you need any remixes of it? :)
djHollen
for sure I would send it out.
What have you got to lose. Send it to some djs too.
Its a sick track and it works well when its loud.
The more I listen, the more I like it; it has stood up to the test of replay value for me (Ive been listening it to it constantly the past few days).
Good luck shopping around.

hey cheers for nice feedback guys :)
i used cubase sx 2 as the main sequencer, but used the redrum in reason for the drums. i also used the malsrom in reason for one of the leads and the subtractor for one of the bass sounds, but i didnt use presets.. used the Steinberg A1 synth for another lead and some other random vst stuff :) It needs a vocal mix i decided.... what u think? vocals would work well no? mite have to change the name tho... duno how well i can incorporate "entangler" into lyrics!!! hehe

Love the melody!
The piano is abit over-eqed if there is such a thing... but it might be because of the 96 kb version.
Overall i like it, remminds me of a movie i've seen cant remmeber which...
Amazing job ;)

Cheers.
Mike_Foyle
