PS LMAO at people saying that guvernment charges high prices. Toronto has some of the cheapest clubbing prices in the world and thats a fact.

Cheapest? Not at guv at least. In my hometown, on thursday or saturday night, you'd be hard pressed to find a bar that charges more than $2.50 for a highball (Guv charges either 6, or 8$ on a saturday I believe). oh, and thats with a cover below $10 too.

well now that guv will have some competition, maybe that will help the overcrowding issue a bit...and maybe even keep prices at a reasonable level

i won't deny that i would like there to be more space at guv, but reasonable prices? you don't get more bang for your buck anywhere else. 10 bucks on a regular night, often w/ a intl headliner is dirt cheap. party anywhere else in the world and pay much more.

does your hometown bar have a resident dj like mark oliver? bring in intl talenet regularly? is the price of land/rent the same in your home town as in toronto? there is no downtown club in TO or any other major city that has cheap drinks on a weekend night that is not a total dump. that's just the facts. there is a lot that goes into the price of a drink at an establishment. ofcourse small town clubs and bars are going to have cheaper prices. that goes w/o saying.

there was a lot of big talk about how lotus and distrikt were going to come and take some of guv's clientele away. i belive distrikt is just a gino club that had that one techno club, and lotus went up after some disaterous nights and a very poor layout. so, i won't get too excited about a new club until i see it. the only real sucess story has been boa reduc as far as i'm concerned.

I went to the guv last nite, it sucked...
I won't go there in the nearest future.
I thought it's packed on special nites, no way.. it's ALWAYS packed...
bye bye GUV, welcome a new club!!

ummm what club were u in last night? because guv was good last night and had tons of room to dance.......your must acually be crazy

Where is your hometown? Petawawa?

Sure u can get your $2.50 shots in some crappy small town bar but i am comparing international cities and world class venues. To get what you get at Guvernment every week would set you back at least $200 or more per night anywhere else (after cover, drinks and parking)

Do you know how much money goes into the design, lighting and sound in that place not to mention the world class talent that comes through all the time?
Jayx1
If you call Guv last night packed you need to stay home....

Plenty of room last night to dance

The discussion was drink prices on a city level, not on a club level.

Pretty much city wide, my hometown has cheap drinks on thursdays and saturday, and yes they do bring in some talent (Although, not as much as Toronto, but thats to be expected). For example, DJ Dan will be there, for $15, and there is no chance highballs will be more than $5, and thats not on cheapnight.

cities are just more costly and that transfers into drinks prices. just part of increased cost of living in urban areas. i think the point is, if you want to see a big DJ in europe or NYC or montreal you will be paying much higher prices than cover at Guv. there maybe thing abou the guv that ppl can rightly copalin about (packed during special evenst etc) but cost is not one of them whrn compared to other clubs both in TO and in big cities world wide.

Even for being packed... ive been to clubs in other parts of the world that are so packed you can honestly not even move and constantly get squished. How do people dance? literally on each other! People were bouncing off of each other and using each other as support. It was actually a lot of fun!!
