Hey Twilogoddess, is this kinda like the second coming of Twilo? I read from you and a couple of people that the previous owners were trying to find something new.
It's sound awesome if this is going to happen, and where is World going to be?

| World is up by the corner of 43rd and broadway. I was there last nite for Oakie. It's a great club. They have all these t.v.'s that show what's going on down on the dance floor. These t.v.'s are postioned all through out the club. The dance floor is rather small. Well ok it's really small. But the club itself is a decent size. There is also great ventilation so it didnt get unbearable. I was really feeling the layout of the club...my only real problem is the fact that there are only two stalls in the womens bathroom that I went into. Unless there is another womens bathroom in the club that I didnt see, it could pose a major problem. I mean Twilo had a huge bathroom and the line was rediculous. I was telling my cousin and his friends last nite that World would be a great place to hear some amazing dj's. The sound system was decent. Not a phazon but decent. I would def like to hit that club up again to see some great talent. |

| Sat nites are 21+....and proper attire. But last nite if you had the ticket from ticketmaster they weren't checking id's...eventhough the bouncers monitoring the line told you to have them out...and people were in there with sneaks and shorts on. so i'm not sure what fridays will be like....hopefully something like Twilo...where there is a casual dress code. lol...oh yeah there was this chik at World on Sat wearing an "I Luv Twilo" shirt. hehehehe |

I'm a big fan of larger dance floors but I think I could handle it if it's someone I really want to hear.
Do you have any word on Tiesto coming on the 7th? THAT's what I'm waiting for, MTV or not. hehe

Oakie was Oakie. I never saw him live so I figured what the heck lemme just go. So I went and first he only spun for two hours...spun pretty commercial stuff....vaiio-rapture, he actually spun that twice, back to back I think he may have had a prob mixing in another song bc he played the full thing twice. He also spun Faithless- We become One...or whatever it is called..lol I'm so bad with titles. I wasn't impressed with his set...nor his control over the crowd. He seemed to only have troo control over the vibe at certain points. And he did this thing on Sat nite...all dramatic like...when a song would break he would like raise his arms and like close his eyes. I dunno it just seemed a lil to contrived. hehehe I called Dovid on Sat and told him where I was going and he laughed...lol. Well I knew the nite wasn't going to be anything spectacular but at least I can now say I saw Oakie live and I won't do that again!!! hehehe |

did you Twilo regulars EVER think that we'd EVER be saying lets go to WORLD (the site of Derek Jeter's birthday party) or SOUND FACTORY (the site of the infamous underwear party).
*SiGh* How the mighty have fallen eh? haha...
The dust seems to be setteling though after "THE" downfall... this would be a good thread actually...
which club do you think as emereged as the overall "bringer of the best DJs" since the closing of Twilo? |

| I personally see World emerging as a possible Twilo replacement. It seems like a step in the right direction as them having this new party on Friday nites. To me it's not the space where the party is at...it's the party itself. SF is a good space...but the party on a Sat nite is not my style. I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy World on a regular Sat nite listening to Denny Tsettos spin...please...not my style either. But if World can bring back PvD, S and D, Carl, Sven...the list goes on, then I say more power to them. It's a nice club with great potential to have a great vibe and a great Friday nite party! I'm really optimistic for the first time this summer that us Twilo refugees (hehehehe) may finally have a place to call home again. And let us not forget who was the resident DJ on sat nites at Twilo...the infamous Queen JR...who is way past his prime...and is in need of serious drug rehabilitation. So let us not be so snobby as to say oh this club or that club sucks or is too commercial...its the party that sucks and it's the party that is too commercial...not the club. |

Kelly I haven't been to the World. U should come to factory on fri for Johnny Vicious I'm tryin to get Dov & Seth to go but they just went this past fri. Roxy is getting really talent as well Scott Bond, Jerry Bonham, hopefully Sasha & Digweed. At this point I don't care which club brings the European DJ's just as long as they do I will follow them anywhere.
I leave for Ibiza in 9 days...I'm going for 24 days. :D It's gonna be mad quiet around here. hehe |

hehehehe...I'm sure if you keep at dovid and seth they will go out! I remember dovid mentioning something about going to SF last weekend. They seem to go a lot on friday nites now. I would go for JV but I went out last weekend...and the weekend before that. I need a break...I'm an old ladie! lol But really I'm going to the hamptons for labor day and I gotta save some $$$ before going. Plus I think my mother would kill me if I asked to go out again this weekend! lol She's been way to kind to watch Isabella for the past two sat nites. Plus she's watching her almost all of labor day weekend. Plus I miss Bella when I go out so I gotta get some quality mommie time in! hehehe
But maybe we can all go out soon. I haven't seen Dov in like 2 months...Seth in like 6 and you since apr PvD. It's due time for a Twilo reunion. Maybe when you come back from Ibiza...and speaking of which I'm damn jealous! I hope you have a great time! Take lots of pics and report back on all the fun you encountered! |
