do you have any friends who are DJs? maybe you should try mixing with someone else's equipment, and if you like it, start buying equipment. do you want to mix with CD's or Vinyl??

well since your from Hamilton.....I'll give a some tips...Tip number one, move from Hamilton :) hehe....anyway, if you go downtown to DR.Disc there mark the owner and some of the employees will help ya out, I went there before I bought my equipment and they let me lix and stuff.....haven't been there in awhile so it could be changed now...but CHECK IT OUT, next time you are downtown.

No, I don't have any friends that are DJs, I sure would've tried it out, but its something I'm interested in, I won't waste the effort to start and not finish....it's something I'd like to do...I've never heard anybody mix on CD, doesn't seem like the popular choice!?....I'm assuming vinyl is better ofcourse....as I said I don't know much, I don't know where to look

If you want to start mixing without spending too much money than do this:

Get a full or cracked version of a program called "BPM Studio", buy a second soundcard or a SoundBlaster LIVE card, and at the options choose "Sound Options" and make it that the player A will be the first sound card (or the front speakers out, at soundblaster live) and player B will be the second soundcard (or the rear speakers out, at soundblaster live)... now get a mixer (can be a crappy one, it's just for lurning)... and your set.

You can do the same thing with a program called "PCDJ Silver" ... you can download it at www.pcdj.com .

I suggest you get a job, buy some used equipment to start off with, and when you have the money, sell the used equipment and buy some new . :)
you won't be needing much for the begining.... mixer, turntables, headphones, and small monitor speakers......... oh yes, and Vinyl of course. :):):)

thanks for the advice on how to get started, depending on how much used equipment costs it'll decide if I get that or not, I am a university student after all! :)....is there anything I can read, about mixing techniques or like the abc's of mixing, something just ot give me an idea
dj alonzo
When you get your equipment all you have to do is just ask and we'll try to help with anything.
HyPeRSoNiC
yep. alonzo is right. :)
I learnt all I know about mixing and stuff like that from expirience. I think it's the best way..... when you get your equipment, try it out, see how it's like, and if you have any questions, we'll be more than happy to help.
