its a nice island. Not at all one of the crummy ones.
I mean, its not developped like some of them..but its not crummy.
depending on what they want( the hurrican relief!) I wouldnt see reason against it |
Jason I would of thought you were against such an idea, remember... transfer payments!! LOl actually those Islands probably would have a better economy then Newfoundland:p |

I cant see the payments being high. I mean, not much of a permanant living base, good source of income..but then the hurricanes come it all up, and leave us to pay for it.
depends...id want info before I signed off on it. And they would have to be a province, not a territory, cuz they get more benefits than you would believe!!!(just because of the name difference) |

LOL. You forgot lavishly govt funded privated industries. :D
On note of Turks and Caicos, was rather surprised that they want to leave Britain and join Canada.
IIRC, they first tried to be part of Canada during Mulroney years in late 80s, but someone had a knee jerk reaction of Canada being imperialist or something and canned it. Also probably because it really was undeveloped piece of can place at that time.
Now, apparently there is a viable tourism industry (just like every other small Caribbean islands) but just needs bit of upgrade on infrastructure (maybe new airport, hospital, schools) to get it really going. Can't cost more than couple hundred million dollars to get it up to speed. The long term economic benefit should offset this cost.
Canadians spending Canadian money in Caribbean in Canadian territory. Sounds good to me!
I also vote that we start a Canadian Ibiza on one of those islands. :D |

Alberta blizzards never shut things down for more than 2 days.
