ok...i agree on a few of your points...yes, give him respect for bringing the trance sound to the states...yes, give him credit for spinning alongside some of the worlds biggest trance DJs...

but where we don't see eye to eye is that sticking with the style that brought him fame is neccessarily a good thing...in terms of quality epic and melodic trance, Touched and Miami provide somewhat respectable tracklistings if this were 1999, but since the genre has evolved to a more deeper sound (with influences of progressive elements, ie James Holden, Yunus, Moshic, etc.), Acosta's sound becomes dated and played out, and, therefore, cheesy...it's time to bring the music to another level, and the top trance DJs all have their very own take on where their sound is now headed...

in the past, it wouldnt be weird to see a tracklisting with tracks by Max Graham, Sander K, PvD, Tilt, Joshua Ryan, Tall Paul, and MIKE...nowadays a set with the music these artists release today would sound incredibly different (unless you're PvD and jack everything up to 140 bpms no matter what)...is this expected? yes, because an artist progresses with their sound...Acosta hasn't done this, and henceforth the argument for him as a top tier DJ is passe and nonexistent...

to top it all off, his attitude doesn't really help much either...and since DJing is an interactive activity, Acosta doesnt really look all that hot when he stands in the booth doing his best Cornholio impression while dropping played out cheese...Acosta looks like he is simply banking on his past success, which pretty much explains why he hardly gets any respect here...

how could you say that touched and miami have respectable track listings if this were 99?? they sound nothing like awake or am pm sessions or nothing like 98 trance ??? at all as a matter of fact each of his releases sound different to the next and every time you go see him live you have no clue what type of set he will be dropping?

yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese. pulser is the only one there with some redeeming value, but if Acosta plays it he magically converts it into cheese. anything he puts his hand on will sound cheesy with him behind the decks, he's like the Midas of cheese, bad pre-packaged American KRAFT cheese (as opposed to quality Dutch cheese).

Acosta was the FIRST trance dj I ever saw about 6 years ago, and I've hated him ever since. Never liked his German hard trance style (like Wag and Talla, horrid music) from back then, and I don't like his McTrance style from today. I'd rather listen to DJs I don't particularly love like PvD, Armin, or Ferry but still have some respect for them for being somewhat classy and unique.

Acosta. sort it out.

my opinion is that they ALL suck. he played a few good tracks back in the day and might play a few decent ones today. so what? he's still a mediocre dj that can't buildup a set for and doesn't have a clue about timing and track placement. most of the stuff he plays is hard melodic cheese. last time I saw him? regretfully, last december. kthxbye.
