| And of course, the example they use is a teenager gril who used to take 12 pills a week...Every abuse is dangerous...may it be boose, or drugs... |

"Creeping"? Hah!
Just like those other evils threatening the suburbs'
precious innocent children, like underage drinking and sex.
It's all the fault of the cities, I tell you... |

I fully agree that the media exaggerates - but it does so for everything.
Wouldn't you say it is better to err on the side of exaggerating the risks rather than on not emphasizing them enough?
Yes, it's funny how the media spins things...but why? because we know better? |

I'm not saying I'm an expert. On anything for that matter. I do know though that, for example, you can't drop dead from taking 1 pill in one sitting, in 99% of cases. I wouldn't be sitting here typing this if they are as deadly as they have been portrayed (and we could argue long-term effects here but I won't). There are certain things that I do know that I'm pretty sure have been misrepresented by the media, whether it's drug use in this case, or the environment, for example, in other cases.
And I guess it is better to exaggerate the risks. But to scare people into their corners so they never feel like leaving their homes, for fear of drugs, thugs, guns, immigrants, air, water, animals, goodness knows, everything - I don't agree with that extreme either. |

no but i'd rather they would 'stay on the carpet' with their claims and actually INFORM the public rather sensationalize and make rampant assumptions and wild proclamations ... that also gives the scene a bad reputation!
...take my parents for example, to them, smoking weed is like shooting up heroin! ... and where do they get it from?! ..oh, and of course, to binge on alc, that's ok! ;)
where is the logic in THAT?! |

hello,
as I have posted before..
your brain is fragile, it is not suppose to have its chemistry altered dramatically on a weekly basis. Whatever its long term effects are, they are NEGATIVE. Wether the effects will be minute or not, we'll find out eventually.
Media dramatasizes everything becuase the news isnt about the truth any longer. Its about who can conjur up the best story. The media on E, is the perfect example of white bread suburban America trying to once again shame or scare its young peoples into line.
Anyways your life is your own, what you do with it and the risks you take are def. your choice, and I refuse to lecture adults making there own decisions. Just remember not to charge OHIP if you get ed up later on, I don't want to pay for it.

LOL sorry to take such a hardline on this.. but I realize that healthcare is the biggest burden on our overburdened government. We pay 29Billion dollars a year in our healthcare and so much of it is due to WASTE.
I totally believe in choice, it is your choice to do it, however I don't have a choice in paying taxes to service healthcare. Its just not fair. Think about it a little from my perspective. |

That's kind of a harsh standpoint to take because that could apply to anyone, not just this one relating to drug use. People know the risks of drinking and yet they still drink, to extremes at time. People know the risks of second-hand smoke (let alone first-hand smoke) and yet still spend most of their weekends in clubs. People know the risks, ad nauseum, of eating crap food and yet they still eat it. I don't have a choice to pay for health care either and I might still end up paying for your medicare bill when you have a heart attack 40 years later, because of choices YOU made in spite of knowing that it might be bad for you down the line.
Oi, too much time spent online today... I'm outta here ;) |

No one likes that the media sensationalizes everything, but we know that they do. Which is why anyone who is doing serious research (say, on the effects of E) would go to unbiased information sources, such as bluelight or erowid.
But the media attention in recent years certainly has played a part in how I have curbed my useage. |
