sure exaggeration for safety and preventative reasons ~ but u should ask WHAT are they exaggerating?
the media blows bits and pieces of the information out of proportion and then emphasizes the wrong part of what is important. ... i.e. 'a 16yr old doing 12 pills' ... that's just a random statement. is there anything else to back this up!?!

this on the other hand would be the point:
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/ecstasy010104.html

Barry McCaffrey, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, noted that drug education and prevention efforts have not kept up with the onslaught of new drugs such as ecstasy(...).
Use of MDMA...has spread rapidly across the country, McCaffrey said, with an explosive increase in exposure among our children. ...
They think it’s a hug drug, it’s a dance-all-night, feel-good drug, McCaffrey said. But ecstasy also may permanently impair the brain’s neurochemical functions...

EDUCATION! (rather than distortion & misinformation!)
...and b/c of the informational distortion ...we have the laws ... laws that have ruined ppl's lives and careers. (i.e the military story).

hence, i think it's OVER-EXAGGERATED. totally out of proportion!!!!

Which is why anyone who is doing serious research (say, on the effects of E) would go to unbiased information sources, such as bluelight or erowid.

yea..and the % of the population actually doing that is...?!

That's kind of a harsh standpoint to take because that could apply to anyone, not just this one relating to drug use. People know the risks of drinking and yet they still drink, to extremes at time. People know the risks of second-hand smoke (let alone first-hand smoke) and yet still spend most of their weekends in clubs. People know the risks, ad nauseum, of eating crap food and yet they still eat it. I don't have a choice to pay for health care either and I might still end up paying for your medicare bill when you have a heart attack 40 years later, because of choices YOU made in spite of knowing that it might be bad for you down the line.

Oi, too much time spent online today... I'm outta here ;)

agreed, I have the same attitude towards smokers, and people who drink lots and so on.. I only say drink lots becuase your body can in fact metabolize moderate amounts of alcohol just fine with absoloutly NO detrimental effects.

and we are doing something about smoke in bars and clubs.. there going to be banned.

about crap food, there are alternatives, and people are waking up to the realization that we are FAT and dying becuase of it. Its about time to be honest.

but E, is still a big question mark and will be for a while I think. Why risk it?

heaven forbid, a heart attack? sheesh heart problems run in my family yah know.. and its heriditary lol not becuase of smoking or eating ty food, just so you know :P

I'm not saying I'm an expert. On anything for that matter. I do know though that, for example, you can't drop dead from taking 1 pill in one sitting,

i guess u could if it wasn't E .. :D

Not enough, unfortunately.

So say a 16 year old hears about E at school from friends. Hears about it on the news. Wouldn't it be better if the message from the news is "it's harmful" rather than "it's not?"

No one wants the media to exaggerate, but it's going to. Always. In this case, I think they are exaggerating on the side of caution.

I'm all about individual choice, don't get me wrong...but the misinformation or ignorance that people have about ecstasy is not entirely the media's fault. It's the fault of people not doing their homework before they form an opinion.

haha... as our generation tends more towards mainstream recreational drug use, I don't really blame the media for trying to scare people away from it.

Sure, E gives you 'the best time of your life' but at what cost? By doing this, you create an imbalance in your senses, so everything from then on doesn't feel 'as good'. At least drugs like shrooms or weed require some thought to supplement the high and inspire mind advancement. E is a cheap high to your body - it s with your system to overload all of your senses. I've known people who've had sex on E and are VERY depressed now, because no (sober) feeling in the world can compare to it.
By no means am I justified to preach about 'proper' drug use, as I smoke the green quite frequently. But, I would strongly would reccommend AGAINST E. To each their own, though.

Sorry, bad example :( That would not be anything I wished on anyone, least of all loved ones!

Xavier Moriarty
yep, drugs are bad but what isn't bad nowadays?

BUT, when guvernemnt think of a way to profit from E, then they'll think of a way to make it legal, you'll see

"freedom? yeah, right"

i'm not defending anything, just want people realize that there are other options and that there ARE reprecussions even if they think moderate usage won't hurt.

bull I say to that. Fried food de-milenates(sp? I can't remember anymore) your nerves, Parkinson's is a disease that de-milenates your nerves(not as a result of eating lots of fried food mind you) think about the correlation between the two, what are the symptons of Parkinsons...

E depletes neurotransmitters in your brain so much so that it takes the better part of a week for your brain to reach normalcy. If fried food can have that effect on your nervous system what sort of long term effects do you think could result from E???

Just think about what you put in your mouth thats all. It does effect you, and it WILL effect you years down the road.

it just dissaspoints me so much to see so many people defending E.. I suppose in this dreary capitalist (that ones for your emery) difficult life, when love is casual and digital, with all these frustrations and forgotten hopes the best way to get through the drudgery of life, the only way to feel anything anymore is to turn to something manufactured.

refute me, dispute me I don't care..
