Ecstasy for therapeutic uses

One of my friends recommends I take some MDMA in a closed, safe environment with friends I know to help with some social anxiety problems I have.

Do you guys think there's merit in using MDMA like this? I've never taken it before.

u should also take cocaine to relieve ur stress and get more things done..maybe use some heroin in order for u to relax at night.....u seem like a very tense person...then sniff vials of ether just for the hell of it

No, I'm really serious here...I have trouble going outside and going to class and stuff because of it. I'm trying to get on some SSRI's/NRI's too, and I was just wandering if this'd help at all.
Vivid Boy
no it wont...change comes from within not in a form of a tablet
Vorian
you're an idiot.
"i'm going to use my poor social life as an excuse to take drugs, then do it by myself because i have nowhere to go to do it."

There was just a report on ABC World News Tonight about the us government allowing a clinical test of ecstacy for patients suffering from post traumatic stress disorder in South Carolina.

There have been people whose psychological problems have been greatly helped by the use of ecstacy over the years.

That is the wrong treatment.

if you are going to use it, go out and socialize. the drug is suppose to help you face you fear or anxiety, then you face it for a while and then ween yourself off the drug.

everyone forgets the last step.

Also, how in the hell is taking E in a closed confined space suppose to help your social skills? I would think being around people should help.

here. Learn some relaxation techniques. I don't care which as long as it works. Yoga, breathing, going into your cave and finding your power animal...whatever.

get really really good at it, so you do actaulyl feel relaxed.

now go to a place where you feel a small bit of anxiety....go through your relaxation techniques. but stay in the situation.

keep at it until you don't need the techniques anymore.

then move onto another situation that causes more anxiety.....and keep on going to more anxiety provoking situations.

that is how you do it without drugs. The problem with E is there is usually more going on that you are concentrated on than helping you anxiety. So in that sense, it will not work and you are just taking drugs for fun.

this sux doing it yourself, so get someone you know that can be tough with you. then let them help you.

It wouldn't be alone, it would be with a bunch of friends who I know I can trust. My friend says it can be scary if you do it with a whole lot of people around you who you don't know, especially the first time.

thats not the point.

The point of using drugs in therapy is to ease up the symptom so you can treate it.

I am guessing that you don't feel social anxiety with your friends.

now the point would be to relax youso you can be social so you can realise nothign bad is gonna happen...

The anti-drug sentiments in this forum are kind of scary. I'm sure lots of people have strong opinions against MDMA (E/Exstacy/Beans/Rolls/Tabs), but are they founded in fear instead of facts?

MDMA was used quite a bit when it was first "re-discovered" by Alexander Shulgin, by psychiatrists for therapy sessions in the seventies.

If you take MDMA with a group of trusted friends you will be able to communicate with them on a very deep and personal level without inhibition of your ideas from your ego. Discuss with your friends why you feel unsure in social situations and see if you can figure out what you are able to do about it. My personal use of drugs has allowed me to overcome a lot of my social anxiety, allowing me to interect with people more 'normally'. I'm an introvert by nature so I spend a lot of time inside my own head thinking about things. By taking mind-altering substances you are able to get a new and fresh view of the world which can help shape your emotions.

Don't be afraid to come out of your MDMA therapy session crying and hugging your friend, you might stumble upon something *very* profound which can leave a lasting impact. Perhaps you might come out of the experience decided that you never want to take drugs again? It could happen.

People associate MDMA with the electronic music culture, raving all night in warhouse environments with pumping beats and a thick smell of menthol in the air. A lot of people on these very forums may hold a negative opinion of MDMA because of that, perhaps a close friend or someone they knew died of an overdose? It's sad that abuse can occur to a point where an overdose situation happens, you should NEVER have to consume more than one tab of MDMA, although it is not unheard of for people to do multiple pills a night, it's not very safe either. I find it very hypocritical when someone tells me that drugs are bad when they are almost passing out from alcohol. Just because it is illegal, doesn't mean it should be. Poor drug education does not help people to know what is safe and what isn't on drugs.

Know your body, know the drug, and be safe.
