Dude, I'm not an attention whore. I just posted here because I was nervous, and wanted to see if people had anything to say on the subject. I hate attention, to tell the truth.

The swastika is just a symbol, its like drawing a happy face or drawing shapes. Even though its been associated with the nazis, the symbol was and is widely used as art.

Actually, it's all about energy and background. The swastika looks like a Buddhist symbol (i don't remember what it meant though, sorry) and an European symbol called "circle of life" which have completely different origins, despite of the similar/identical shape. Therefore, a person who knows the "circle of life", for example, and recognizes it as being so, will link it to peace, life and whatever else connected to the person's opinion on it. Since we're all made of protons and eletrons, and eletrons do erradiate energy because of their dual structure, it can have some minor influence on things surrounding us (someone better in physics would be able to explain this better). Therefore, the swastika can't do anything - your mother's view on it, on the other hand, can.

are you just learning about religions or are you serious about wicca? maybe you should explore other religions before settling for one.

I suggest you, at least, take a small read about other religions... there are more simple pages, like this one from BBC or this alphabetical listing of group profiles from "The Religious Movements' website

Many interesting things there :)

It is the opiate of the masses.

Generalisation = bad

It is the better way to come up with a opinion without thinking much.

Here, I found the Falun Emblem

it's far from being the swastika, or meaning the same thing :)

In fact, this page has info on it

Its true tho... do some research, its not a generalization...

I do research, believe me, I read a lot about it (reason why I could provide Badger the links). The bad thing is when a religion proclaims itself as "the only truth" and doesn't show much tolerance toward different beliefs.

Not all religions are this way.
Kamikaze Badger
There are some religions that are just plain snobby(Like the Mormons), but there are those religions who, like Lira said, aren't very much like that at all.

why do you want to belong to a religion (a group of people), why not just be who you want with no bounds or restrictions imposed by a religion and live life according to you. at least thats how i feel about it.

1) The chance of learning more
2) Discussion
3) Being around people who share similar points of view in life, so you can criticise yourself (in a different way)
...
so on :)

Took the words right out of my mouth and improved on them...

And it's fun to discuss things such as magick and the Book of Shadows with people who actually know what you're talking about and don't step away from you when you announce you're taking up witchcraft.(like someone did do tonight)
