I have now this but it doesnt sounds that familair

Tranc3
Holy crap look at all the space inbetween those notes...especially that second chord, there must be more of an octave's difference between the low note and the next highest note.

Well ok so assuming it's in Amin/Cmaj, that first one is like an E with a triply augmented third and a 6th augmented 5th....or a root plus a 6th plus an eleventh. I'm not an expert on music theory by any means, but those look like some insanely large intervals. Typically chords don't cover more than an octave, and if they do it's fairly rare (or so I'm led to believe)

i changed it a little bit and i think its now theoreticly right

What you all on about.
That midi file and chords sounds very good.

i go by the 'theory' that if I can play it with my hands, it shouldn't be used... if your having trouble look at the chord dictionary on musictheory.net

IT souns good, except the second half of it starts to lose its progression, kinda goes off scale a lil too.

im just waiting for alanzo and neophono to do their theory tutorial :):)

does chord progression apply to the following genres:

techno
hard house (uk)
tribal

???

I fail to recognise any chords in all these genres - most rely heavily on drums and in the case of hard house, just catchy hooks and a bouncy / dirty bass.

I can see the benfits of chords thoughfor trance with its pads and atmospheres etc... maybe im losing the plot here!!!

I dont know because i dont produce any of these genres but i know that techno is more about a groove than a melodie like trance
so mabe than chords progression doesnt count?

alanzo
about that original pad.. it isn't exactly out of tune.. it's in tune to the key of D Harmonic Minor.. it just doesn't sound good..

but you would be amazed when something that sounds like crap can be layered with something that sounds great and it can sound perfect :)
BIKKEL
Which one the 1st,2d or 3rd D of the track? or all of them?
