a little history about "pwn"
it was blizzard entertainment that made this term famous when in the early days of warcraft II, if the computer opponent beat you, a message reading something along the lines of "you were pwned by the computer" would be displayed.
not done intentionally of course. it was a typo that has long been fixed but the kiddies who did see it started to use it and as we all know today, it caught on like wildfire.

besides pepople say a.k.a (also known as) in real life, so i dont see the problem with people using internet in real life. |

actually the use of the word "powned" or whatever these kids pronounce id came from warcraft 3 as was mentioned above in a custom map called Defense of the Ancients - whenever a player on either team would kill another player he would "pawn ****'s head for 100 gold"
its a shame that the kids of today are brutilising what was in fact a wicked line... |
