I'm trying to think of edm, prob
early early Skinny Puppy and Frontline Assembly. Ever hear of a band/group called Children of the Bong? (that was a Mammoth release, 95) Fairly wild big beat/electro dub stoner music.
Aphex Twin (now I can't stand him)

I was on a Fluke/Photek/drum and bass kick for a while.

And then Acosta's Awake sort of
hit me in the head like a brick.

Now I'm prob going more caffeinated hardtrance/hardstyle stuff. (Though I love
goa/psy)

Back in Moscow started with 2 Unlimited, Ace of Base, Masterboy :haha:
Then a new radio station opened in 1996, that was playing EDM, so I started listening to Hardcore, Gabber, and even some House.
Then it was Prodigy, Scooter ( Our Happy Hardcore is actually a good album by those guys, but all the other ones are just terrrible...)
Then I moved to Canada, met Durafei who was listening to pure cheese at that time :stongue: When we moved in together in Waterloo in fall of 2000 he started feeding me with some quality trance which he got addicted to arround that time :)
Now I like trance(from progressive to tech), house, good techno, and acid jazz when i am in the right mood for it.

my step into edm started way back then back in the early 90s with rave when i was really really young, i used to listen to rave and euro since that was the mainstream at that time, part of it always stayed with me but since i moved to toronto ive been into rap, metal, punk, all kinds of stuff but finally returned to trance really briefly and then got into techno. Now, i enjoy all types of edm from deep house to industrial hardcore stuff.

RAve...*sigh* Its gone dude. I know it sucks and hard to think about it without shedding tears. All I can say is "there there, there there".

AS for me I startrd listening to Kraftwerk and Jean michel jarre back when I was a kid cause that is what my dad was listening to. I then went off into Rap in the early 90s and then my Bro came over from germany and introduced me to techno. Lsitened to those tapes for a long time (since u could not get it over here) and then went off listening to Nirvana and pearl jam. Then I went to back to germany in 1995 and I was astounded by 160 BPM + music. PArticularly "Wonderful days - Charly lownoise and Mental theo". Unfortunately it died in 96 and I was left on to listen to Energy 108 late at night till about 2 years ago I got into trance and started lsitening to house and all forms of beats that were not "urban". Nowadays I am listening to 80s music cause it is the only music I Like and am in the mood for ALWAYS. Also cause of the fact I have absoloutely no way of getting ASOT sets to know what is waht and no internet connection to DL them.

Yea I used to like Hard House too. I was into stuff like Fergie, Lisa Lashes, Tidy Trax + Nukleuz type sheeeeeeite too at about the same time I was really into trance.

:o

The harder the better!

:p

And to think that now whenever I hear a song that's over 130BPM its almost bordering on a little too fast for me hehe.

oh yea I can listen to SOME techno now

(ie. of the not too hard/funkier/rolling/soulful variety)

I've seen Jean Michelle Jarre in Moscow, back in 1998. It was Moscow's 850th aniversary and he came with amazing light show. Back then i did not even care about the music, it was all about that light show :D

I was a huge Manchester electronic dance music lover. The likes of Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets, Mock Turtles, Charlatans, Happy Mondays, and The Farm, brought me to the dancefloor in the late 80's....As did New Order...although I never cared for Depeche Mode..yes yes I know..I may very well be the only one out there. ;)

I also loved my idm : Front242 (damn..I have to pull out these old CDs ..forgot about these guys until just now), Ministy, Frontline Assembley and others. Around this time I also became a Delerium, Leftfield, and Enigma lover.

Moved over to Trip Hop after discovering Massive Attack in the early 1990's and clung to this genre for a very long time. Actually ...I never really moved away from the Trip Hop. Discovered DJ Shadow and

Trance - Robert Miles - Children started me on this journey if I can remember rightly. From 96-99 I enjoyed 3 years of heavy Trance partying. Also really enjoyed Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers and Prodigy at the start of all their runs...that is until it got to over played and I started to look underground for bigger beats.

Loved the new Progressive Trance that started to appear around 1999/2000 so I guess this was about the time I decided to leave pure trance behind me in search for something different

2000 - now - Progressive House, some Progressive Trance, Breaks, Techno.
