| If Jim the anvil niedhart was Canadian, was Canadian i would say him, but he is not, so I go with Bret Hart/Owen Hart |

Wow....great link!
It always amazes me how many great Canadians we've had and have in a country with our population.
Some you may or may not know...
JAMES NAISMITH 1861-1939
At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the first year basketball was played as an Olympic sport, an elderly Canadian teacher was guest of honour. Years before, while searching for a game to keep students in shape, he had nailed up two peach baskets and invented the popular game.
MARY PICKFORD 1892-1979
'America's Sweetheart' was far more than just a pretty face. A talented, hardworking actor, she helped shape Hollywood itself, producing her own films, co-founding United Artists and the Academy of Motion Pictures and becoming one of the most famous movie stars of all time.
DAVID SUZUKI 1936-
His work on the fruit fly led the respected geneticist to worry about nature's vulnerability. As host of The Nature of Things, he continues to alert us to those worries. From toxic lakes to rain forests, he has shown Canadians and the world an environment in crisis. Now, his foundation is trying to help halt the damage
NEIL YOUNG 1945-
He was the last word in Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. As a member of Buffalo Springfield, he also created songs that became all-time favourites. Melding rock's vitality with folk music's emotion, Young remains forever open to experiment, and an influence on younger stars.
ROY BROWN 1894-1944
He earned an additional bar for his Distinguished Service Cross when on April 21st 1918, he shot down a 'pure red triplane.' – piloted by Baron von Richthofen, the daring ‘Red Baron’.
FOSTER HEWITT 1904-1985
The former college boxing champion and sportswriter used the telephone to make the world's second ever ice hockey broadcast. But it was his penetrating cry “He shoots! He scores!” which turned Canada's premier play-by-play hockey commentator into the 'voice of hockey.’
PAUL-ÉMILE LÉGER 1904-1991
A liberal-minded cardinal who believed in reform, he resigned a position of power to work with the powerless and the shunned. In devoting his life to those with leprosy in Africa, the true humanitarian gave solace and hope to millions
Just an idea of some of the greatest Canadians out there.
Puff up and be proud; you have every reason to!! :D |
