Interesting sampling of Hans Zimmer in Nickelson - Yin

I noticed that Nickelson - Yin (Solid Globe Remix) features the very emotive main theme from the Last Samurai by Hans Zimmer. Film scores will always be prime sources of melody material for trance. I get the same dizziness of emotion from Hans Zimmer as from a great Sasha tune. Zimmer was an electronic musician himself before going classical/film scoring anyways.

Case in point: Gladiator - Now We Are Free =)

Hans Zimmer always ends his soundtracks with a slow moving track that uses all the main motifs for the movie. The last track from the Last Samurai soundtrack, titled A Small Measure Of Peace, contains the main elements for Yin. Check it out.

Hans should had been nominated for the Oscar at the very least, and he was robbed for Gladiator anyway. Cheerio.

Yea it's one of my fav tunes, but unfortunately for the above reasons it won't see a release.

Are you sure it won't be released? I mean look at Ozone - Rock,
if i remember it correctly Airbase said it did not cost anything at
all to get the rights, so it's not impossible to clear the rights for
the samples used here. I really hope it will get a release because
it's one of the best tunes I heard so far this year.

The difference is that The Rock by Airbase is inspired by the movie, where as the Solid Globe track, all they did was chop out the strings section and used it in the track, not the same.

But if Darren Tate aka Gladiator could clear the sample for Now We Are Free (albeit with a corny new vocalist who cant do a Lisa Gerrad obviously), I'm sure Nickelson/Solid Globe could redo the strings section and come up with something.

Maybe someone will do something for the Pearl Harbor soundtrack ;)

Its been done before ...

Darren Tate isn't 'Gladiator'. He has done a version of the track which covered the original vocal (it was done so well it sounds very similar).

The track entitled 'Gladiator - Now We Are Free' is the more obvious version that Jules has been playing.

Hmmm ... both versions of Now We Are Free share similar samples and have the same melodic motif ... even if Darren Tate is not Gladiator, surely he had a hand in the production of the version that Jules had always played.

Solid tune by Nickelson and Solid Globe. Awesome soundtrack by Zimmer as well; one of my favorites of this past year.
