I actually liked it...the first half was just all new to me (Coming from Tiesto).

enjoying it right now at work actually (for the fourth time) :)

btw: the following is Essential Mix's home page on Radio 1's website
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/dance/essential_mix.shtml
note: Tiesto is not even mentioned on it :(

thats cuz the bbc radio one website EM archives are updated very slowly. dont bitch about tiesto's EM being prog, i said it was gonna be at least twice in prior threads... you're probably not familiar w/ the EM if you're surprised with the results

i'll let it grow on me, think its ok right now. in the future maybe i'll like/dislike it more. hidden flight didnt really fit. and again like i said before, oakenfold and pvd seems to be the only ones who can get away w/ spinning full-on trance sets for EMs..
everyone else tones it down, less obvious, more deep and progressive, if you dont believe me check out scott bond's wicked EM from earlier this year. prog for him, but a great set. or anne savage.

I would like to hear pvd spin a studio mix...b/c he hasn't done a studio emix since 97 and that mix was good but I want to hear what he would spin now...

This set made me depressed.. it's all slow progressive with only a few exceptions (Urban train and 643)

Listen to his Energy 2000 set then this one and see how much he has changed, for the worse =(

Good the sooner the better. i need something to listen to while im doing homework  and i have a lot of it. prog stuff (thats what you said he mainly spun) is actually better to listen to while doing homework cause its less distracting in my opinion

Get a good newsreader like Forte's FreeAgent (which is free btw:)) to get the files. D/L'ing from your local ISP's news server is always quicker than d/l'ing off the net (for me it's 400k/sec+..Cable).

This will only last on the news server for about 1 more day.

Hope that helps

Yeah this mix was really progressive, I guess he was telling the truth that he plays to what the audience likes. And progressive is what Radio 1 listeners like. I saw the last half of Tiesto's set in San Francisco the week before this Essential Mix and he was great... a little progressive, but a decent amount of trance... He played alot of the songs that you guys voted the best out there these days... I actually was a bit disappointed that he didn't play anything I haven't heard except for a sarah mclaughlin song (not silence) which wasn't that good and a another song. He ended with Jan Johnston's Flesh (I'm assuming his remix). The crowd was the most lively I've ever seen it at 1015 Folson.
