where the did mexico come from?
i think fifa give to much credit to the CONCACAF teams, cos there's no way costa rica are that good, and mexico + USA above italy?
Also wales are still very low, behind scotland also, eh? |

Its easier for a team to string an unbeaten run together in the UEFA cup than the Champions League |

Exactly. It's ridiculous to lump the two competitions together.
The FIFA rankings are the same, that's why Mexico and USA are so high. They play mickey-mouse games and boost their ratings. |

football has been going all wrong the passed few years.... with major money problems for clubs to poor refs in world cup and the farce that is the cham league and uefa cup...
i think there methods of "ranking" are definately flawed. |

It definitely has, but there have been some recent upturns. It's good to see the transfer market has calmed down in recent years. A few years ago transfer fees were ridiculous, Man utd paid 30million for a defender, people were talking about Beckham leaving for 50 or 60 million. In the end they got half that. It's come down to slightly more sane levels which is good because when prices go out of control the gap between rich and poor clubs grows bigger. This year's Champs League might not have the glamour of most semi-finals, but it's a good sign that the gap between rich and poor can be bridged (to a degree) when Deportivo hammer AC Milan, Porto beat Man Utd, and Monaco beat Real Madrid. |

yer but i purposly avoided all that coz im bitter about a certain aspect about that :p
yer its well good to see that smaller clubs are catching up. but leats hope they dont try do it in the same fasion as leeds and dundee :haha: :haha: :haha:
still think its a bit ed up list...like since when have italy been worse than half those teams? one poorly refed game that put them out of world cup surely doesnt deserve the there getting + there are heaps of other examples of that just beeing plain crap list! |

Only reason I can think of is that they beat Brazil twice last year. I'm a bit bitter that they're above the US, we haven't lost to them since before the last World Cup. US is probably high because the only games we've lost since the World Cup have been to Brazil, Turkey, Argentina, and the Netherlands; and none of them were by more than a goal. That only confuses me more as to why Mexico is #4, they've had some ugly losses in the last couple of years. |

I believe it's got something to do with the ranking of the team you beat/lost against.
If you beat a highly ranked team (i.e: Mexico vs Brazil), mexico would get more points than if it had beaten another team, like syria (ranked 89...not bad...).
If i am not mistaken, Mexico have a good history in soccer and beat Brazil a number of times in the past couple of years... |

No offense, but wtf is Mexico doing up there? :D
But then again, I know nothing about soccer, except the fact that The Netherlands should get their act together. |

I believe this was already asked and attempted to be answered :p
p.s: dont worry bout Netherlands, they'll do good |
