unless you mean physically mixing them thats messed up. Pour 7 shots into a glass. Chug. drink a beer an hour for the rest of the night. CHeap and good drunk, plus less hangover because cheap vodka is what gives you hangovers, and its better processed at beginning ;)

Perhaps Orbax can shed light on this: Is it true that wine will get you drunk quicker (not harder) because the alcohol concentration is just low enough so that the stomach doesn't have to break it down before absorbing it?
Orbax
uh. No. its purely because of alcohol%. get yourself a 9% alcohol malt liquor or a barley wine and youll get tossed just as fast. The only thing that makes you get drunk faster is C02 (carbonation) because it increases the permeability of the stomach lining.

"Take care if you are planning to toast the New Year with champagne - the bubbles in this most celebratory of tipples really do get you drunk more quickly. "

wine is also usually had before dinner with light snacks meaning you are gonna get it into your system faster because you have an emptier stomach.

if you're down for the earthy toned cabs then you're going to the wrong places! Old world wines (france & Italy) are known for their more subtle and earthy tones. The new world wines (Cali, SA, Aussie and Chile) are known for being more fruit-driven and bold.

i consider myself a huge fan of wine, and definitely very knowledge able on it.

For you, since it seems money isnt an issue (i wish i had that case hookup like you) please ask aroud and see if you can find a Bordeaux wine from the medoc (left bank) region. make sure to ask about and see that the chateau has a cru classe' (quality ranking) and appears in the appelation of "1855 classification" (a classification/rankings of all left bank bordeauxs. you'll be in for a treat, i promise :)

I also had a cool interview in austin with velocity electronics and believe it or not i had to present infront of the CEO and 4 board memebers about any topic for 5-7 minutes... i did mine on wine - basicly a crash course and in the process explain why a cabernet is more fitting to a steak dinner than a Pinot Nior. At the very end of my presentation i say "and just in case you wanted to try out everything i've been talking about, you're in luck" as i pull out two bottles, a cab and a pinot... needless to say i got the job offer, and i have about 2 weeks from today to accept or not (im still holding out for an offer by TI in houston).

anyways my favorite wines are definitely chianti and can (the Grenache grape variety that is grown only on sardignia). I'm a sucker for italian reds

check out http://www.grape-varieties.com/ its pretty cool little site

hey, we DEFINATELY have to start talking about wines together.. i would really appreciate it if you would be so kind to share your knowledge :) as i have found reading on wine and not receiving any feedback or likes/dislikes gets boring. When others say.. "This white has a woody, cranberry taste." Is it the truth ? or just merrily a sales gimmick ? I love reds.. it seems to only be Merlot that when I drink, it feels like my nose hairs are tingling.. is this true of the more dry wines? I love the warmth, fuzzy feeling you receive while sipping.. Can you explain what makes that tingling nose hair sensation ??? It's like when your outside, breathing in really cold air.. something happens to your nose hairs and thats the exact feeling I get.. I'm also in love with Martini & Rossi champagne..hmmm . If i had the money, I'd have a friend who was 21 buy me a bottle of Opus. I prefer champagne and wine over any type of alcohol.. well, besides Margaritas of course :)

edit: a friend of mine is a superb  cook and we, or rather (he instructs me to do the little tasks) love to get together and spend hours preparing a meal, while drinking a bottle... what foods/tastes go well with whites.. and what for reds ?? Thanks in advance !

well, i dont usually, but last weekend i took a bottle along with my usualy carryout and i got completly wasted.

i dunno. it seems to sneak up on ya. dont really realise it sneakin up on ya, but damn it hits you hard!

pretty strong i guess. 11-13% usually.

heres a fun tip: I know that sometimes you can order a wine w/ fruit ... i forgot what this is called.. i've seen huge pitchers of it, mainly whites with lots grapes, strawberries, honeydew, etc in the bottom & when eating the fruit, it's much more potent than the wine
Nell
wine's mint

it's relatively cheap for its % , its an afrodissiac (sp?), you get can get hamemred of a few glasses if you dont eat much, it's ladies and gents drink.

the best sexual encounters always come out of too many glasses of wine imo.

oh trust me, i do too hehe... usually the last place ill buy a good wine... i'm usually Cali + italy, and every once in a while try exotics from spain, new zealand, argentina and such. btw i heard washington has some good wine, especially on your side of the columbia gorge... any you recommend?

anyways back to the topic... the old world wines tend to be sudtle and earthy as a result of many centuries of the same families making wines at the same vineyards, in otherwords the centuries of experience (where as wine in the new world is a new enterprise). they also tend to be less intense and bold resulting in a slightly (only slightly) less alcohol content. but when you think about it, its also a refliction of the culture. the french and euros think of themselves as complex people with centuries of culture while americans, aussies and such are brash outgoing, bold people with in your face cultures - which reflects in their wine... cool huh?

thanks man, i'd love to help you out - but you know the best way to learn is by actually going out and tasting everything you talk about and at the end of the day everyone has their own opinions so no one is really wrong (kinda like politics)

ya believe it or not all those buzz terms actually mean stuff...
for example there's actual logic behind the fruit flavors...
crisper (more acidic wine) which results from colder growing temps (ie not full ripening) would be described by red cherries, rasberries... as you get into warmer climates you get darker more sweet fruit like blackberries, plums, and black cherries to really hot climates that tend to over-ripen their grapes and cause lush sweet flavors such as dates, raisins, figs and blueberries.

the general thing is heavy body wines go well with heavy meals (fatty or very meaty) sudtler meals need more delicate wine this is true for whites and red... there are light body whites (reisling) and heavy body whites (chardonnay) then reds are heavier but also tend to have a spectrum with light body (pinot nior) to heavy body (cabernet savignion). there's a lot more detail i can go into about exactly why but then my fingers will hurt... maybe ill explain a bit more in depth each post.
