Yeah, I was really surprised. But the thing is, I was eating lots of bad carbs before, I was raised that way. The Caribbean diet consists of lots of fried plantains, lots of rice and beans, very high in fats and not much vegetables. And as we know, not all carbs are created equal. So I cut all of the junk and the high carb non- green vegetable products as well and it worked.

And I don't consider myself as doing the Atkins because I don't follow those guidelines religiously. But the framework has been helpful. For example, for fruits stick to all kinds of berries and avoid tropical fruits that are very high in sugars and carb content. It worked for me and I'm eating much healthier now. I used to eat way more transfatty acids/saturated fats before, so I don't see what the problem is.

Fat isn't bad for you, saturated fat is. When dieting it's still important to maintain consumption of some EFA's.

Reducing your carbs will ideally help you lose weight, but you'll become very lethargic and once you re-introduce carbs back into your diet you'll put on weight fast (The outcome of the Atkins diet once you go off of it).

Stick with fish, chicken/turkey, leafy greens, oatmeal, nuts, cottage cheese, EFA's - Keep your calories at approximately BWx10, exercise 3-5 times a week and you'll lose weight without losing a lot of muscle.

bottom line u just have to have will power to not eat junk!

i gave up soda long long time ago. i drink water most of the time and juice and grape juice not high in high fructose corn syrup. of course i drink soday very few time when i go out and there is nothing to drink but soda.

i eat sweets like pastries cause i gave up soda and it takes it place instead of adding more sugar.

i eat whatever i want but i don't eat mcdonald's and burger king anymore. just restaurant or grocery bought foods.

i drink vitamins b c and e and multivitamins everyday. after i eat of course so u won't feel all nauseas from all the vitamin taste.

simple as evercising every other day at least 20 min. everyone has 20 min of free time regardless if u have 2 jobs a day.

so that is why i said the bottom line is will power and how u push yourself to do it. once u get up and do soething everything else will be fine and it won't be hard. starting is what the hard part is.

and i hate that low card . i really really hate it. low carb diets are for fat poeple that trried everything and nothing works so they have this to try to save their asses. i hope it goes away soon

exercise more, eat less and in some cases not all but some, your health and looks is all up to your genetics and genes.

things that are addictive like cocaine are chips, krispy creme, mcdonald's, burger king, pork rinds, and other chocolate junk goods. once u go without these things in a 2 month span, u won't crave for it anymore. just suffer through those 2 months and u will be fine.

That's not true. All of those fat foods you mentioned are rich in bad carbs. Carbs are great and very important, as long as they come in complex fiber forms (vegetables, nuts, etc.) Cutting bad carbs is essentially a healthy and balanced dietary change of your eating habits if you do it right.

there's only one sure-fire way to lose weight... okay.. there's two...
one: stop eating.
two: get hooked on heroine. you'll never want to eat again ;)

I'm not a big fan of altering your diet in order to lose weight. If you are fully satisfied with the new diet, go for it. But otherwise I'd recommend against it. Feelings of deprivation tend to lead to lethargy.

Whenever I want to lose some weight I just keep increasing physical activity until I start losing weight. In general, I think it's a better way to solve the problem because it leads you in the direction of being "fit" instead of "scrawny."

run every day out of the week. stop eating junk food. anyone who does that won't have to worry about crap diets.

A good way to have a healthy diet is to try and match your calorie intake with excirsises that burn calories. Low to no carb diets are horrible for your body. Your body needs natural sugars to use up so you dont lose body mass. When you take the carbs out of the picture you do lose weight. First it is all the fats that are in your body to begin with. The after you burn all the fat your body naturally goes after the muscles in your body and starts to take away those. I have had many friends try the no carb diet then they pass out after about 3 weeks on the diet from no natural sugars or carbs. They said it was natural but it isnt. Your body has tolerances and when the tolerances are null then you are basically screwed and you have health related factors.

Bottom line is if you want to lose weight drink water, milk, and eat the same thing every day, and most importantly excirses. I know it works because i am a wrestler and i have tried ever diet in the book and that is what i have found out works the best if you want to lose weight and keep it off.

I run about 4 times a week too..

I dont get it with all these people crazed on those special diets...I mean, excersize is the key. Dont get me wrong, its great to eat healthy, but still, not eat whatever the hell you want, take a pill, and loose 20 lbs.

I'll let Foamy do the talking on Atkins:

yea, I lost about 20lbs aswell, just by cutting down foods, I normally just eat cereal in the morning, and toast later in the day, and then drink alot of beer, it works for me, I'm happy, but I can't lose any more weight, I'm stuck, so now I'm going into more physical things, to make me more fit, so gonna take up some Martial Arts.
