I figure I'm living a good life, and I'm a good person. What is there for me NOT to be happy about? I mean hey, if I wake up in the morning breathing... it's a pretty damn good day. |

To me that statement: "you must take responsibility for YOUR own actions" is the most revealing in this entire thread. Some women, and indeed many people belonging to groups who have historically faced overt societal oppression have picked up the bad habit of blaming society for every poor decision they make - even though they could have just as easily chosen to act otherwise.
Such people simply fail to understand the notion of personal responsibility:

I'd rather have a smart, responsible woman, than a stupid one who isn't willing to take responsibility for her own behavior, but perhaps that's just me.
But aside from that fact, calling someone a whore for possessing a large number of condoms is simply non sequitur. Having a huge personal library does not make you educated. Having a wine cellar doesn't make you an alcoholic. Having a few guns around the house does not make you a homicidal maniac. Analagously, having a significant supply of condoms does not automatically make one a whore.
Anyway, welcome to the forum Jiffy. It's good to have new members with some common sense rather than the spamming Simpsons characters which seem to be the norm lately. |

I am very open-minded about alot of things, but lately (on the internet, and from a couple of MY stupid acquaintances) I am really getting frustrated with the amount of idiocy surrounding sex, and the proper precautions that should be taken to avoid adverse situations.

Whoops, missed your reply. Anyway, hey I think the societal double standard of men being the ones who should have the condom ready at all times is pretty dumb too. But I'm not setting that standard ... that's what's expected in most cases. Therefore in a society whereby a man is expected to possess a condom, a woman possesses a tub of condoms by her bed, then one can perhaps assume that she's promiscuous. It's a rational generalization, all things considered, regardless of how legitimate it may be. It's ok to perceive what you will ... as opposed to judging someone based upon an assumption. But hey, who even cares if a woman is promiscuous? |
