Ello Joe

U know i like this track mate. i can understand what others are saying about maybe the supersaw's being a little unimaginative but imo the actually track itself is very far from cookie cutter generic stuff. Their are some wikked ideas that you have used. My only critique is that there isnt really a breakdown and i know that it shouldnt be that every track has some huge epic breakdown, but with this track by the time u get to the end the melody gets a little tiresome. and the other point is the bass needs to be fuller as the bassline now doesnt sit quite right for me. A better bassline with give the track some extra power and pace.

Anyways considering its your 3rd track im very impressed mate :D keep up the good work

heey joe!

sorry it took me so long to reply, but i couldnt listen at uni yesterday:/
but damn you have improved a lot! i really like this! maybe the lead is a bit too loud, it seems to overpower everything else at some bits. besides from that it's great! massive build up, nice melody, and a wicked bassline, which could be a bit louder perhaps. or its the kick that's needs to deeper dunno, but the tracks needs more bass. and it gets a bit repetive towards the end (or it is because i've listened to it for 10 times now or somethin:p)
anyway, you got some great ideas going on here! good job!

Ok, to the people I haven't replied to...

Jay M: Cheers for the review. I purposely tried to give it a lot of variety after the comments I had from Nightvision.

Dantheman: Thanks mate. Nice detailed review as ever - taking every little comment on board. And argh, still can't get a kick to please ya! :p

Renco: No problem matey! Hope you had fun on your birthday. :D

Sunquest: Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for the technical pointers. I really don't know what "ASOT style" is though. I only listened to ASOT once, and that was aaaages ago! :D

Eleni: Glad you like it and thanks a lot for posting, but people are entitled to their opinions. As long as you don't say the same. :p

Lee: Thanks for posting. I don't think I'm gonna work on it anymore though, so what you hear is what you get...

Antonio: Ah, more people hating that main synth. Glad you liked the other elements of the track though... But prefer Nowhere To Run?! You maniac! :stongue:

Mike: Ello mate! I agree with what you have said, but I didn't really want a massive breakdown in this. I think too many producers think it's some kind of prerequisite nowadays. :p I'll try and keep up the work, but I have no idea how my next tune's gonna turn out...

John: Cheers for posting John. Yeah, mastering is a bit duff - mainly because I can't do it.:stongue: But my speakers are breaking too... Probably not a good thing. Anyway, glad you liked it. :)

hmm kinda an ok tune, though the melodies dont really touch me like dbl said.

i think it's nice for a club though..maybe more low freq in the kick.

i like the part you made with the synth from 5.42-5.52

Hey Joe,
This is a quite an impressive track, you have improved immensly since your last few tunes :)
Most notible is the percussion.
Grat bass line & nice melody.
Nice track overall mate :D
Black-Dragon
really nice track mate, keep up the good work :happy2:

Hey mate!

I'm afraid this isn't really my style... Personally I like tracks with a more clearer structure and not seem to go on and on.

I did like the somehow 'wicked' synth near the middle part as well as the drive (bass and percs), good job on those ;)

Cheers,

good joe :)

The production quality is good... drums are fine, bass is ok, synths are ok, but nothing REALLY stands out. Like... it's a good track, but it has nothing to make it stand above the rest of the fluff out there.

Some advice for you... when you're attempting polyphony (more than one melody at once) then try to keep your melodies in different parts of the spectrum... and avoid melodic clashing. The synth that comes in at 5:30 or so could be doing very interesting things to your song... but IMHO it just clashes with the other saw-wave you're blasting behind it. Maybe you could change it to something different with different harmonics.

But then again, there are a lot of professional tracks that are far worse than this. So cheers for getting a good, danceable track out of it all.

I actually disagree with a lot of people - I really dislike the synth that comes in around the 5:30ish range. I guess it's a combination of the dissonance it causes and its harsh, gritty sound, but I think that it ruins everything that the song built up to.

But other than that, I like it :)

Cheers for the comments guys, even though nobody seems to be able to agree on anything... :stongue:

Overall I thought the production was spot on, very tight.

Positives

Good Melody
Excellent percs, very tight
Nice FX work
Good intro & outro

Negatives

Main Synth (Change the patch)
The bit around 5:40 - Sounded quite raw too me

Seems like we are both coming on heaps and bounds at the mo. Maybe we could sort out a collab?
