We do not pay for the royal family through taxes. The Queens fortune can be split into four main areas. Where public funds are involved I have taken the liberty of expanding:
Her personal wealth
The Privy Purse
The Grants-in-Aid
The Palaces' maintenance and upkeep is one of the expenses met by the Government in return for the surrender by the Sovereign of the hereditary revenues (the net surplus from the Crown Estate).
The Civil List
The Civil List is the sum provided by Parliament to meet the official expenses of The Queen's Household so that Her Majesty can fulfil her role as Head of State and Head of the Commonwealth. It is not in any sense 'pay' for The Queen.
As you can see she is neither "paid" nor "given" any part of our taxes. Think of it more as "reimbursment" of expenses incurred whilst acting as an ambassador for our country.
Other Royal's income is usually hereditry, but most members of the Royal family persue their own business interests. |

| I got a better idea, give all the english royals the castles and a total of 1 million a year (TOTAL) and let all of the greedy bastards fight over it. Then a year later, dissolve the monarchy or send them to greenland (somewhere far away). Then cut the extra useless taxes on things in the UK and people will be happy. BTW, i also think that all pop groups should be banished to Canada's Far North or Siberia where they cannot cloud the airwaves with rubbish. Also please add darude and that sellout atb and the other rubbish acts. This will work, i just know it will. |

bull, the only expenses are the tea bill and the gardeners bill, and a reimbursment? what happened there then, the guy in charge of working out how much we owe her for all her hard work fall asleep on the zero key on the calculator? |

I totally agree with you. It's possible they drink a little bit less tea here in Sweden, but they are still useless and people pay for them. |
