*Beep Beep, Beep Beep*

I excitedly run to my phone, hoping to see an SMS from tattersalls to say i am the first winner in their new SMS Lottery, unfortunately not.

Second wish was for it to be someone that i actually knew.

nope -

From A Girl named: Liza.

(the message reads:
Hi. Liza here. I'm looking 4 a real man. If u want 2 meet me or 1000's of other girls txt "flirtme" to 188995. Msgs cost $1.10 inc. GST. Optout @ blueskyfrog.com

edit: Mobile Ph. which sent this msg - 0416-905-406

*sigh*

What absolute e. I might be single, but i really don't need this e to be sent to me. I cant believe people will msg this back long enough to make it a viable business.

How can they've been seriously allowed to commission this junk!
Pointy

muli and I know all about this ;)

Short version: There are VERY strict laws on SMS spam. These laws come down to a reply to the number saying take me off the list, the user must be removed from the list.

This is actually in BREACH of the new spam regulations that came into affect on the 11th April.

Lol, we haven't been done over here yet, but I'm not sure what sort of issues/rules we do follow. All i know on the legality of it is, there is a new guide line, ADMA LOVE our work (and endorse us) and our only opt out is a reply message.

Mind you, I'm not talking about Premium SMS, which is what the issue is.

Soups/all; Muli's correct. Replying to a Premium SMS will cost you ~$1.10 up to $3.95.

02 8302 5000

They are based in sydney, williams street actually.

Yea wade we do a lot of premium SMS MO/MT. We are fully supported by ADMA, but i suppose having a close relationship with them means we also have to follow their rules strictly.

Premium numbers range from 55c - $4.95 (and with the new 19 sms numbers i think it will go higher :nervous: ) so be careful, you can easily get ripped off.

Also some providers charge YOU to send you content. Like weather reports etc.. so make sure you check out the costs when you sign up for these things, they can be up to $4.96 also :eyes:
