Songs to mourn the death of a best friend

Music can really help deal with the bigger issues in life... it helps brighten the spirit even in the worst of times. One of my best friends and one of the most unique people I have ever met, died in a car crash on April 16th, 2004. He was 23 years old. Any help with music recommendations is greatly appreciated... hold on tight to the people you love, talk to them often... no one is guaranteed another day in this life. There are only a few feelings in this world that can compare to the death of a friend. When you realize that you will not be able to see a friend ever again. It is at times like these when you want to believe that Heaven does exist, and that you will see them again, one day.
Armin van Buuren - Yet Another Day (Downtempo Remix)
Airwave - When Things Go Wrong
Michael Andrews ft Gary Jules - Mad World
Markus Schulz - You won't see me cry (deepsky remix)
Andain - Beautiful Things
I can't find any others... |

That "In my memory" tune, by Tiësto and Geert Huinik is quite good, I guess.
By the way, my condolences :( |

Hmm...when my dad died some songs that would make me bawl my eyes out but feel better were Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone", Boyz II Men & Mariah Carey's "One Sweet day", and Our Lady Peace's "4 am".
Not suggesting you listen to those, just sharing my experience. Those songs are actually pretty gay, but I was 14. 4am didn't come out till a couple years after. |

My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your friend.
The song that stood out the most to me when one of my best friend's passed away last year was:
Lustral - Everytime
Can you hear me,
Talking in my mind.
I can feel you,
You're with me all the time.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face
There's a warm sky,
covering the night.
In the darkness,
I only feel the light.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face.
When I'm lonely,
your voice is in my head.
And my memory feeds my soul,
with all the things you've said.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face.
Everytime I close my eyes,
I see your face.

Escape Club - I'll Be There
Over Mountains
Over Trees
Over Oceans
Over Seas
Across the desert
I'll be there
In a whisper on the wind
On the smile of a new friend
Just think of me
And I'll be there
Don't be afraid, oh my love
I'll be watching you from above
And I'd give all the world tonight,
To be with you
Because I'm on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
But I've gone nowhere
Just think of me,
And I'll be there
On the edge of a waking dream
Over Rivers
Over Streams
Through Wind and Rain
I'll be there
Across the wide and open sky
Thousands of miles I'd fly
To be with you
I'll be there
Don't be afraid, oh my love
I'll be watching you from above
And I'd give all the world tonight,
To be with you
Because I'm on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
But I've gone nowhere
Just think of me,
And I'll be there
In the breath of a wind that sighs
Oh, there's no need to cry
Just think of me,
And I'll be there |

My condolences. I'm very sorry to read about your loss.
My suggestion is a little bit different than what others have posted, but it is somethign that has recently helped me deal with the death of my best friend in November.
Instead of songs that are "about remembrance", what about songs that actually remind you of some of the good times you and your friend had together?
For example, Chingy (however you spell that dood's name)makes me laugh anytime I hear this one damn song that he does. I don't know the name, because I don't listen to it... but anyway. When I hear the song, and I laugh, because I remember one day, driving down the road to happy hour, and my Jeff was jammin this song. I mean, we were pumpin' it... and we pulled up next to some highschool girls, and he started actin' a fool and acting like he was all pimp and such, and winking at them. I, on the other hand, was laughing hysterically at him, telling him to hurry up and take me to the drinks.
I mean, damn... that's a pretty cool thing to remember, and everytime I hear that song, I do. |

| I agree...one of my friends favorite songs was Escape by Kay Cee. Everytime I hear it I think about him. It gives me goose bumps, but it also makes me smile. |
