Well he told me in the chill out areas they do play some psy trance like Shpongle, but in the wood's interior it's strictly minimalist Trance, not ambient as I think someone else said in this same thread

Funny you should mention Scooter as I DL'd my first(and only so far) Scooter track today but no, this guy is really into hardcore Minimal

i really don't see how you can get minimal trance.

trance is all about melody imo, minimal I always thought was a description of the beats.

minimalism is about layers and repetitive processing. it could be melodic and 'trancy'.
Freak_Q_Librium
With me melodic content is everything, some people just need the beat and they're welcome to it: Freak 3>'s* melodicism

*I'm hoping everyone knowz that 3> mean's loves(it's in the shape of a heart) but that was my old community, here I really don't know:haha:
Sand Leaper
Perhaps he's talking about the minimal sound a lot of psy trance has nowadays?

Aphid Moon - A Lot Of Radio
Paste - District 9
Qlap - Magnetic Boots
Planet B.E.N - Rotten Lung
Etnica - Techno

I'll be more than happy to show you exactly what I mean by European minimalstic trace once this crazy mo'fo gets on line :D

This is going to appear very uneven and choppy because i am merely cut/pasting from another forum i visit, all comments as to the quality of the music are my friend's and i have put them in quotation marks

Here it is! Upon request, believe it or not.

"I feel obligated to start out with Krumelur's "Minimal Animal", probably the most important milestone in Minimalism, and also probably my very favorite. It's weird, Swedish, minimal, warm, jazzy and absolutely mindbending during the right circumstances." :D

Ott's Blumenkraft... Nothing short of amazing.

Ott: Blumenkraft (Twisted 2003)

"Wicked album by Posford (shpongle, hallucinogen) and Vaughn (prometheus)."

Younger Brother: A flock of bleeps (Twisted 2003)

"Next up is an act that pulls some serious respect. They never lose touch in their flawless production. One of the biggest names ever in progressive psy, out of Sweden - Son Kite."

"This is where things get interesting... The two Swedes switch labels to the unknown "Digital Structures", one of the most respected labels ever these days."

Son Kite: Perspectives of... (Digital Structures 2001)
Son Kite: Aiwana Remixes (Digital Structures 2002

"Another awesome act that should not be overlooked is Shulman".

Shulman: Soundscapes & Modern Tales (Shaffel 2002)
Shulman: In search of a meaningful moment (Aleph Zero 2003)

"If you're after straight up ambient, I definitely suggest Vidna Obmana. This one first and foremost":

Vidna Obmana: The surreal sanctuary (Hypnos 2000)

"Back on the topic of Progressive..."

Igneous Sauria: Encepfalophagus (CreamCrop 2003)More loved ones out of Digital Structures...

"This is an absolutely insane album... Straight out of Poland. It's not very thorough in style, nor traditional sounding. It's quite unique, and I think that's what makes it appeal so much to me. People call it "amateur", "too weird" and so on... Personally, I can't wait to get more of this stuff."

BigWigs: Fraktalik Fraterniti (Digital Structures 2003)

"Moving on to Ticon, another Swedish act out of DS. They've got that mellow, cool, summer breeze sound down like no other. Which they demonstrate quite nicely on the latest album. Though the debut, Rewind, is not to be forgotten."

Ticon: Rewind (Digital Structures 2001)
Ticon: Aero (Digital Structures 2003)

"Another well rooted act, previously on Spiral Trax, that's evolved and ended up on DS - Vibrasphere."

Vibrasphere: Lime Structure (Digital Structures 2003)

Well there's a few anyways, i'll provide more at a L8er time if you want

Son Kite: Minilogue(Nova Tekk 2000)

hello. I em did some internet browsing and came to the conclusion that minimal trance does indeed exist. It seems to be a cross between Psy/goa trance and ambient. It propbaly sounds like melodic trance without all the silly synths i guess.

there is also this stuff called minimal techno which is basically just bleep, whirrs, clicks and haunting echos (techno purists love the stuff).

Oh but back to the topic. I can't really say anything about it becasue i havent really heard it, ever. I guess it depends what ppl look for in good music. For some the melody does it for them, and for others the intricite drum patterns and bass lines do it for them.

Does it sound like minimal techno..cause i hate minimal techno..eew

ndont like minimal techno? I think its great. Dark electro like Drexciya and some oldies like Model 500, SCSI-9 and the Orb.

tbh im getting sick of that hard euro techno crap like marco bailey and Umek.

Okay, based on the examples it's basically centred around goa trance, ranging from psytekk (think progressive goa) to psybient (psy ambient, you probably figured that one out). So it's largely trance and ambient-ish stuff. I wouldn't call it minimal trance myself, but I suppose if you want to group that particular slice of the spectrum together then it's not a bad label.
